Hi I have the motorola v551 and recently bought the motorola phone tools program and USB data cable. My problem is the phone tools program says my phone is not connected. However I look under phone and modem under control panel and it says it's installed. I followed all the instructions with many different variations. I get a little Icon that pops up at the bottom saying motorolla v551 detected and goes away during installation. I know it connected to the computer correctly but the program is just not having it. Can anyone help on this issue?

hello again, I recently download the cingular conneciton manager to see if it is my phone that just isn't working correctly. However, I connect to the cingular connection manager seemlessly, No problems. Which makes me think that there is a compatablitiy issure with the motorola phone tools and a motorola v551. Please sends any information regarding this matter.

I'm wondering, since this phone has blue tooth built in. I wondering if I have to use the blue tooth to connect to my computer insted of the usb cable. I don't know. It's starting to get the best of me.

Mobile Phone Tools has been installed with Motorola USB Modem drivers and V400 phone detected. After 20 installs, the V400 had pictures copied off, but only the once and only for ten minutes. Every other attempt and variation of installation has failed.
Communication between the phone and computer is always disconnected even though Windows XP says I'm good to go.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm using a blue tooth usb dongle and I get similar problems. I can use some of the phone tool features, like dialing, but I can't transfer files. I'm beginning to think there is a firmware flaw in the v551. Hopefully, not. I'll keep lookin'

I am having the same issue. I have tried two different BlueTooth USB adapters including the Motorola branded bluetooth adapter. No go. I can sync with the native bluetooth software that comes with the adapter but using the Mobile Phone Tools I get no sync with any of the tools. I am currently trying to get a refund from Handago since their support basically told me to get another phone. Ha!

BTW, I recently downloaded the latest and greatest Mobile Phone Tools software from the LiveUpdate option. mobile PhoneTools - 3.19e1 12/03/2004 (041116004089) I got a nice little new skin, but still have sync issues.

I just got a v551. If I get phonetools v1.0 can it be upgraded to v3.0 w/o charge? Should I buy a bluetooth adapter or get the data cable? Where do you suggest buying it, I don't have a lot of money to put towards this. There are some on Ebay w/ the cable and some version of phone tools, advice please.

Thanks

So, was the other BT adapter from Belkin? Does the Moto branded one work any better or have any other advantages? Is it cheaper?

What can you sync with the included BT software without using MPT?

Bought Cingular-locked V551 a few days ago...latest Moto Tools installed two days ago. All works beautifully - I can transfer Outlook contacts, appointments, etc. *both* ways. Happy to verify particular functionality if you email me request to -edited-. -Vic
