When trying to download Java games from the Samsung website I always get an Install Error on the screen when it attempts to download. I have cleared the memory so that should not be a problem and have emailed Samsung 2 days ago but have not yet had a reply. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you resolve it and how?
Thanks

I got the same problem with my S300 and im on orange too.
Dont bother emailing Samsung, iv already emailed them, their no help what so ever. From what i understand, the failure to download java games is down to Orange. Although iv phoned them too and they couldnt help either.
Anyone know whats going on?

Well I went into the Orange shop in Reading yesterday and they put me on the phone to their Data services people (156). They again put the blame with Samsung.
Called Samsung Cust services who then took my details. Their Tech Support were too busy to answer my call then so have been promised a call back with 2 days.
Waiting on their call now. Will post here either way.

I don't know if this will help but as far as I know, there is a second setting (apart from the GPRS setting), you need to do to be able to d/l Java. If you haven't done the second setting, you will get the 'install error' message whenever you try to d/l Java.
I only have the settings for Singapore in the S300 page at the following site, and it may be there is an equivalent setting for your telco in the U.K. too.

What we'll do here in Singapore is after setting up GPRS, then key in *#9998*5282#.
There'll be a few more settings to key in.
After that, there'll be no more 'install error' messages when downloading Java.

I have no problem with the GPRS or WAP settings as both work for browsing sites. I can see the files ok and get their respectives sizes it fails once you get to the connecting screen.
You may well be right with what you are saying and if so then the blame would then point to my provider Orange but until I get a response from another S300 user on Orange that is getting Java to download OK I have no idea where the fault may lie.
Samsung UK have yet to call me back or E-mail so am stuck at the moment until someone can find the answer.

There seems to be some proof that you need the settings for the 2nd APN accessed using *#9998*5282#
Select the GPRS settings and my APN is orangewap with username & password both blank. I do not know what the sttings should be for this to work on Orange but from browsing the above forums it appears that every network is different.
What I need is someone that is on Orange and can download Java using Orange GPRS and not O2 (tried that and can't get it to work !!). If they would be so kind as to put in the above code and write their settings here.

Hooray, Got it working.
I used the above code *#9998*5282# and then selected CSD. Looked at but did not modify the settings. Went online using GPRS and this time it connected.
Download started but at 100% got a JAR corrupted. Cleared Cache as suggested in previous threads and voila the downloaded Java App loaded and installed ok.
Any one else try this and let the thread know if it works.

hey there Bertrum,
Can you please state clearly what you did to enable dowloading of java games? I did as you said and it did not work for me. Which wapsite did you download from?
Much appreciated,
