Ok, here we go again... I have officially figured this out!
Using the software I record my band with, I can cut ANY 30 second part from an MP3 file that you want and email it to your phone.
I have verified that it will work with the VX7000.
It does NOT work with the VX6000 or the Samsung A670's.
If you would like to get a chunk of one of your MP3's uploaded to your phone send me a message and I will get back to you on where to send the file. I only have so much time in the day so I will try to get them done as quick as I can, on a first come, first serve basis.
I will continue adding phones to the list that work and don't work as we find them.
If you are having trouble with MP3 loading or formatting, just let me know and I can get you all set up.

Sorry about that, I didn't realize that PM's weren't active on the board.
The only format that I have verified for sure is the VX7000. We are currently working on the Samsung A670 and VX6000.
If you want an MP3 converted, email me at waazzupppp@hotmail.com and I will tell you where I need the file sent - please include the subject line 'MP3 Ringtones' so I make sure to read your mail.
There are many free programs, as you can see from the multiple posts about this, out there that can do the conversion, but I have a template set up on my recording gear to make it quick and easy. Just let me know what 30 second clip you want and I will send it your way. It is about 150k per clip at 32kbps quality so make sure your phone has enough memory available.
Other than that, just let me know what you need and we will get you hooked up.

Totally possible, but I don't know anyone with a 6100 to try it with. If you want to be a guinea pig, just let me know and I will fire you off an email. Just send me an email at the above address and I will send you a ringer to your phone once I get the info from you.

Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me if your software is free that you get mp3 ringtones from and what site is it on? I have a LG Vx7000 and I've been searching high and low for 100% FREE software to download to get mp3 ringtones and by using my USB cable, transfer those ringtones to my cell phone (FREE OF CHARGE). If all your stuff is free, I'd love it if you would let me know all the "How to's" please! Thanks a lot!

Nope, the software that I use to convert the tones is not a freebie. Its Cakewalk Sonar, which is just one of the many programs that you can use to convert MP3 formats. There are freebie ones out there, but I found that people were having too many problems with the formatting, so since I had the software, I figured I would be nice and trim down and format the songs they wanted.
So, in short, wait, too late... But it's pretty pricey to get good audio software. Sony's Soundforge is about $400, Sonar is $600 and Protools goes up to about $2500 for the nicer packages. You can find stuff that will do it much cheaper, but then it comes to figuring out how to do it.
AND A QUICK PS: Nytro, the tones worked great in the 6100. Same formatting as the 7000 so it's pretty quick and easy!

All you need to use is a program that can change the bit rate. Change your 30 second mp3 to 64 kbps. Save the mp3 example: song.mp3. Then, change the extention from .mp3 to .mid. Send it to you phone using yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com Hit save sound and you're finished.
NOTE:
[] To save space, convert your songs to mono instead of using stero.
