I just came from T-Mobile, and their billing cycle was from whatever day you activated to that day on the following month. No paying a month ahead as I just found out Cingular does. Does Cingular go by full months and December will just be pro-rated for me? Not looking forward to that first bill (especially with the activation charge on it too!) Thanks all!

cingular bills *in advanced*.. like the way you pay rent, at the beginning of the month.. if you make changes to your rate plan, then do expect it to be prorated that first month

I think when you join Cingular, the first bill is 2 months and _not_ prorated.

Yes, they bill in advance. Was with them for 3 years. If you ever decide to leave them call the billing department to be sure when your cycle date ends. If you go one day over they will bill you for the entire month. My billing cycle ended on the 17th so I had my new carrier cancel with Cingular on the 16th my finale bill from Cingular was zero.

I forgot to tell you they don't pro-rate (anything as far as I know) your first bill will be for two months.
Funny you just left T-Mobil to go to cingular and I just left cingular to go to T-Mobil. Go figure

I left Verizon for Cingular. I had to leave Verizon, was during trial period, because no reception in the house. Darn shame as I like Verizon the company much better than Cingular, who doesn't prorate because they claim customers don't like it - certainly weren't talking about me.

Any wireless carrier that you sign up with will prorate the first month's bill and any time you change your plan unless you do it on your billing cycle date will also be prorated, including Verizon Wireless. As a matter of fact, just about any company that provides a monthly service will prorate a bill if the service was setup before your billing cycle date for example: cable, electric, home phone. It only makes sense to bill you for the service that you are using right? Most companies bill in advance as well and will not prorate final charges. It is usually better if intend to cancel to get all of this information before you decide to port your number or make other arrangements. This way you won't feel like you are being taken advantage of.

Cingular bills like this, if they can screw you out of some money they will. They will overcharge you, and expect you to pay for it while they "look into it" and you will never hear from them.

when you sign up w/ Cingular you are assigned a cycle dated say for example 12 you cycle will end on the 12 of every month, so if you sign up on the 13 and get a cycle day 12 you WILL get a double bill , very rare but if you sign up say on the 10th then you have a prorated from 10th -12th then a full month
