I live out in the sticks, 85239, and i'm a victim of poor reception.
In metro phoenix and all the way home i get 2+ bars, but once I turn the corner onto my street I get "no service". Once in my house i'll usually be in emergency only mode, but if i go upstairs i get 2+ bars.
I've got a couple of those stupid antenna boosters on the way incase they help, but I though perhaps a flash/flex to later software may also assist. Here's what i have now on my v505
triplets_G_0B.09.4AR
GS9V500AWSTONA183 - 1.0.4.2.A.K.0.KB.P.0.AM.0.3.1.0.DC.P.X.J51.AE
SJUG0472BA
I thought i did my due dilligence and used an at&t gsm phone from work for a week @ home before switching from verizon to at&t, which seemed to work fine on that phone, also a motorola. But these new phones are getting the signal that they should.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Try this before you go any further into flex nad flash it. Go in to network and manualy chang the bandwidth to 850/1900. and try for a week to see if it is making any different. I know it sound stupid, but there is a couple guy with the same problem have try that and it work

Thanks for the info, i tried what you advised for the last week but no change.
Today i got the antenna sticker. I wasn't holding my breath or anything, but after i installed it and powered up i was between 3-4 bars reception. It's been several hours now and it's still topping out at 4 bars of reception. calls are connected immediately and the sound quality is excellent!!!
I've heard more bad than good about these antennas, but if you're desperate it's definitely worth a try in my opinion.
Thanks again for all your help!

Hi Jon -
How is that booster antenna been holding out? I live in the 85044-area (around S.Mountain) and the exact same scenario you described is occurring with my v505.
Which antenna booster did you get?
Approx. what should I expect to pay?
Thank you for your valuable input, by the way!

Hey there, I bought the booster from this site:
http://www.apexcellular.com/antennas.htm
There are 2 reviews at the bottom of that page from different tv stations, kinda like 3 on your side..etc. I can't find the original articles on the web, but i remember that one of the reviews said that most of the antenna stickers are crap, but recommended apex cellular and another store for the "good" antennas. It was like $15 for 2 stickers and they threw one in free. Well worth it in my opinion! btw, their shipping took like 2 weeks so that sucked, but it was worth it once it came!
I've still got the 3rd sticker, if you want it just shoot me your address and i'll drop in the mail for you. --edited: email address is not allowed in forum-------

That package looks like the one I got before on Ebay. It didn't improve on my RF, however. Maybe it was because I didn't use the sticky but just place it in the battery compartment.

The package i received actually is exactly like this one: http://www.amradios.com/antenna%20boosters.html
The one they show on the apex site is not the one i received, but as long as it works i'm cool.
I did stick in in the battery compartment. basically directly under the physical antenna just under the battery connectors.
