I recently purchased an unlocked AT&T v600 to use on the Cingular Network. I have recently began getting 'Unregistered SIM' messages on my phone. The problem seems to rectify itself if I power cycle the phone.
My question is:
1.) Is this a network problem, a SIM card problem, or a Phone Issue?
2.) Is there a fix for this, through firmware perhaps?
3.) Considering AT&T and Cingular are now merged, would it be crazy to stop by a Cingular store? Or do they frown on unlocked phones from different providers?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

May i ask where did you bought the fone? It's could be that this fone is tolen and now nework are blocking it (barr is the word for this i think)
try to do master reset, if that not work you may have to try to flex it and flash it. Or i would just talk to cingular, tell them what wrong and ask to check see if the fone is hot or not

I bought it off eBay from a reputable seller. I doubt it's stolen, but I guess you never know. It was brand new in a box, so I'm not sure.
I'm a total novice here, so can someone explain to me what 'flexing' a phone really does. What advantage does new firmware have over the existing one?

It sounds to me like it is a sim card problem or someone could have reported it stolen. People do that on ebay. They sell the phone then once they get the money they report it stolen. Thats why you chould never buy phones off of ebay.

I suppose it's possible, but this guy has over 1000 sales, with 98% positive feedback. I sincerely doubt it's a hot phone.
Does anyone know the ongoing effects of the v600 problems and Cingular's network?

First i would recommending return for another one.
Flash and flex is meanning change firm and softwares just like you upgrade your pc form win 98 to xp instead you upgrade your fone.
