Well, they will possibly put out a firmware fix for it, but they won't do it for you, that would be a massive RAZR V3 Recall. But they should release it to the public. Yes it voids warranty but theres not much you can do. If you want the humming fixed run out your warranty then flash the phone personnaly.

I don't know much about changing software and all that seem editing etc.... but if you put everything back the way it was when you got phone new, how will that void the warranty... I mean, they will NOT know that you did all those things to it, will they? (if you put everything back the way it was)

They can check to see when your razr was manufactured and they can check your s/w version. If the phone was made before the update was released then say goodbye to your warranty.

Just make sure you can find a backup of your original firmware, as you cannot extract it from your phone.

I just got a Motorola Razr V3. Not sure if it was doing it all the time but if you just open the flip and put the phone to your ear (without dialing or anything), you hear a humming/high pitch sound. Is that with all V3s or should I return mine? Thank you. |
My v3 does it too...........
when itsa on "idle"/"standby" it doesn't sound but when i push a button or do something it will buzz
so im guessing it might be an internal "mini" fan?

if you cant back up your phone .............and something comes up when you need to use your service providers warrenty........simply do this..........take your biggest ladder climb up on it at the top and simply drop your motorola v3 and then go in to your service providers store and say you droped it and it broke
then pay $50 and get a brand new motorola razr v3!

Not entirely true, on all my incomming calls, when the backlight is lit or off, my phone humms.
As for the software update, if Motorola issues a firmware/software update that is required, it will not void your warranty. If it is an unauthorized software update not issued by Motorola then it will void your warranty.
If a manufacturer issues updates to better or fix their product, they have to honor the original warranty
