I am having problems charging my SE T610.
It started as an intermittent problem - plug in the charger and nothing
happens. Try again and its fine.
The problem has gradually got worse to the point where it effectively
doesn't charge at all.
If I leave it plugged in, it will flick between charging and non-
charging. The charging phase tends to last a second or two with the non-
charging phase varying from 2 seconds to several minutes. If I switch
it off, the joystick light comes on continuously (which I think means
its charging), but the screen lights up intermittently saying "charging"
and then goes off again after a second or two. I assume this means that
it is behaving the same way when its off.
Its not a charger problem as I've tried with 2 different chargers.
It doesn't seem to be a mechanical/connection problem as it flicks back
and forth without being touched.
Could it be a battery problem, or a firmware problem? Do I need a new phone or just new battery?
Any ideas?
TIA

I had the same problem with my Sony GSM. A lot of people have problems with the Sony charger. There are two solutions to your problem:
1. Buy a charger from another trade-mark. I bought a Globocomm charger for Sony GSMs and it works better than the one made by Sony.
2. Buy a Nokia GSM. The plug from the chargers from most trade-marks are very fragil (including Sony). Only the Nokia Charger has a very solid plug on his charger. The disadvantage from Nokia GSM is that it doesn't have so much features as Sony GSM (at least for the same price).

Another (cheaper) solution:
Clean the copper terminals from the plug from you Sony adapter with a tooth brush.

I have all the same issue as pointed earlier.
Problems are
[1] When I connect to charging it doesnt start charging
[2] Flicks in between charging and all that
[3] Power off and connect the charger, the red light constantly on, in between flicks charging message.
From all these I thought the problem is either charger or my battery. So I used my charger and charged my friends T610. It worked fine. So left is battery, I put my battery into his phone and charged with my charger. It charged fine. I even used different charger with my phone, no difference. So what is left now? Phone? Some connection problem in the phone? Any quick fix?

as ericzutter stated above, try cleaning the connectors with a toothbrush (dont go buck wild...take it easy and add only a bit of force).
Then, if the same problem persists, i would say open ur phone up and check the connectors inside (unless your phone is still under warranty...in that case DO NOT open the phone up and try contacting your retailer).
If you don't know what to do or how to open the phone up, you can google it - there are some great tutorials out there.
To keep in mind though, if you DO want to open the phone up yourself, you'll need a T6 screwdriver to properly do it.
If you dont want to screw around with the phone yourself, you can try to bring it to a repair shop (but i wouldn't 'cause they charge an arm and a leg just to have a look).
Hope this helps,

ok, I'm having this same problem, but it's gotten to the point where it doesn't charge at all and I'm phoneless. Has anyone had any luck with opening it up and checking the connectors? I really need to do something, but I don't want to attempt this unless I absolutely have to.

this problem is caused by a poor connection between the charging plug connector and the circuit board. to restore charging ability, simply disassemble the phone, remove the connector (the plastic piece that the plug hooks into -- it slides right off the circuit board), and clean the contacts on the circuit board with a pencil eraser. it will work as well as new.
this fix took me 5 minutes.

I just cleaned the contacts on the charger with a paper towel soaked with just a touch of isopropyl alcohol and then laid the damp part of the towel over the connection on the bottom of the phone and used a plastic fork tine to rub each of the three connections.
The charger connects every time immediately now.
