I am new to the forum. Have always had Verizon contract, but had enough of their crap and am going to go T-Mobile pay as you go.
If I purchase one of the pre-activated prepaid SIM cards on ebay which state they've never been used, is there a catch? I've spoken w/T-mobile customer service twice, and they assure me that I can get a SIM which has been activated in CA and have it switched to a MD number with no problem. Has anyone had experience w/this? (I do have a Samsung R225 T-mobile phone).
Thanks!

you can switch the sim card to a different locale but i personally would not buy a sim card over ebay. but if YOU feel comfortable with the seller than you sould go ahead and do it. they should cost a whole lot of money. so the risk should be low.
good luck

if you take your phone to a tmo store you can activate it on tmo with a number and 125 minutes for about 50 bucks, those on ebay that are already activated are under another persons name and it's harder to make changes on if you ever need to. do it through the store, you'll be much happier and get your phone activated right there

If I buy a SIM card and minutes from T-mo store and have them activate it, do they "lock" it to T-mo? I have a new unlocked Nokia 6108 triband phone. Later this year I will go China and buy a local SIM card for use. Will then be a problem?

NO - unlocked handsets are not "re-locked" (to make up a word) to Tmobile for any reason.
Also I wanted to mention:
All T-Mobile / GSM phones will work with our prepay service. To get started, simply visit a retail store or authorized dealer and purchase an activation code. Let's say you bought a prepaid card & called to activate service, w/o an activation code we'd be unable to set up an account for you.
I suggest you review the Pay as you go link @ the tmobile website.

About the SIM card that are sold on eBay:
I saw them saying New Never Activated Not Stolen
Where do they get those SIM cards then?
How about those preactivated with minute? Do service providers allow one person to activate a lot of prepaid SIM card? Where do they get those SIM cards?
