Note that Consumer Reports - at least, in November - found Verizon to be generally highest-rated, with (to my recollection, in descending order) Sprint, t-mobile, att and cingular following. In my view, there's a reason att gave up their wireless division, and cingular may not survive the process in the long term. Also, hardware buildouts during recent years favor Verizon, in my opinion.
Re: t-mobile service: as I've said elsewhere, their service is good as long as you're willing to wait 5-20 minutes and be willing to repeat your customer data at least twice (usually 3x) to the very helpful reps. That said, I've experienced service failure from their advanced wireless data dep't.
The saddest fact is this: deregulation = each consumer is required to become both a tech and an accountant, which creates a lot of very busy bees while hive royalty engages in friendly jousts for the largest honey pot.

Hey Texan nice self help option lol
It basically comes down to were you live like texan said I think that everyone should research which companies offer the best reception in their area and then weigh that against the cost of the companies rate plans. From alot of people I have spoke with Tmobile has a pretty strong network and probably the best value as far as rate plans go. I would pick Tmobile over Cingular/Att if they offered approximately the same signal strength were I live.

Samsung,
You are too funny! If you cant give self help on the phone why not do it on the 'net!
And you are right TMobile's rate plan usually seem to be the best... The problem with most people is they walk up to a kisok (cant even spell ") and just hear "you can get this wonderful phone for free!!!" never research a thing..then complain about it. Key word, research, research, research!

well guys, guess what? T-mobile now lets you check the network strength (with the same information that cust care has) for ANY ADDRESS IN THE COUNTRY. They will tell you that there is absolutely no signal at your home, but you have to ask them. They will tell you that at your work location you will only get service outside, but you HAVE TO ASK THEM!!
its your responsibility as a customer (of any company) to know what you are purchasing before you buy it, otherwise you have absolutely no right or reason to complain when it works EXACTLY as planned and as stated.
go to t-mobile.com and click the personal coverage check under the coverage tab.
I beg of you to please show me ANY other cell company (even a tiny regional one) that has a coverage map that will get THIS specific, and that is available to anyone who can go online, customers or not.
I know verizon, cingular, (or ATT) dont have anything even close to this, if you dont believe me, try to find out how strong each company's network is, at your exact home address. I dare you.

Actually, I started this thread with the issue of people preferring T-Mobile over AT&T Wireless plans/coverage/satisfaction; now, the situation has completely changed: there is no AT&T Wireless anymore , so you have to choose between T-Mobile and Cingular ... All I'm saying is "Don't even try to think about going to any other career:Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, etc" they are not GSM.
GSM IS THE BEST!!!
