for any kind of wallpapers or ringtones, all you have to do is open up bitpim, select wallpaper or ringtones tab.....click add....then find the file you want....then at the top send data to phone....then a dialog box that pops up click whichevr and add

If you want to save a step, in the My Documents folder, after installing BitPim, you will find a folder named 'BitPim'. Inside that folder are folders for: Calendar, Phonebook, Ringer and Wallpaper. For photos, save to the wall paper folder. For ringtones, simply save your midi files to the ringer folder. When you open bitpim, it will already be in place, then just click 'send to phone' and you are done!

Hello,
Do you guys know how to access the video files on the VX7000 using BitPim so I can transfer them back and forth from and to the PC?
I have gone thru all directories using the "Filesystem" folder and can't seem to identify which ones are the video files. I found eveything else though.
I have BitPim ver. 0.7.20
thanks,
Marcelo

2 things....first...there is a new version of bitpim....get it.....next....zcarman is working on it, and he will tell us how to do it as soon as he figures it out. he is able to identify the files, and extract the raw data, but it's not actually a file, so we'll keep you updated

Hi All:
I make this posting in hoe that it can help other owners of LG VX8350 (new model, Sept'07), with these specs:
SW Version: VX8350V01
PRL50857
ERI 4
HW Version 1.0
Much like a lot of other people I had this error when I tried to synchronize my new VX8350 with my contacts/calendar/playlists/wallpaper using BitPim 1.02:
"Access to the file/directory has been blocked on this phone by the phone provider"
I had contacted both Verizon (service provider) LG (manufacturer). Both are clueless - Verizon tech's are polite but lack significant knowledge; LG are confused saying "there is no way at this time (09/25/07) to transfer back and forth data between VX8350/PC.
I have significantly researched this on the web.
Here is what did work for me to get all the data from my old phone (LG VX4400) to the new one (VX8350):
1. Dwonload the latest (test) version of BitPim (1.02, 09/25/07, worked for me) from sourceforge . net
2. Power up and connect your VX8350 via the Data USB Serial cable to your computer (PC/Win XP, in my case).
3. You may need to first install the VX8350 Driver (which came with my USB Serial cable and the annoying Verizon V-Cast suite). I am not sure if this driver is available for free download on the web yet (as of 09/25/07).
4. Start BitPim - First try "auto-detect" phone to make sure your phone is first seen and the drivers are available. But then DO NOT USE the default detection settings, as this detected VX9900 for me, not the correct phone type. Manually set the phone to LG VX8550.
5. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SET THE PHONE exactly to "LG VX8550" as none of the other ones worked for me. The other phone options generated error stacks of one of two types:
5.a) "Access to the file/directory has been blocked on this phone by the phone provider"
5.b) The typical BitPim error trace reported by many others in this and other similar forums.
6. Now you can transfer "Calendar", OR "contacts" OR "playlists" OR etc. ONE AT A TIME - not sure why.
7. Keep in mind that the phone will quickly transfer the data and will auto power-off. Upon rebooting, BitPim will detect again an incorrect phone (e.g., LG VX 9900), you need to go through the process again, starting with step (5).
I reckon this may be an ealy fix for the BitPim developers, regarding compatibility with LG VX8350.
At this point, I do not think the problem is with Verizon/LG locking the phone/folders/directories, eventhough it looks that way.
I hope this helps. Best of luck.

I have a new phone and have the latyest BitPim installed. I was able to create my contacts and download them to my phone using the USB cable.
Here are my questions:
1) Does ringtones have to be midi file or can they be Mp3
2) To copy MP3 files to phone to listen to, any restrictions? Size? bit rate? file name?
3) Should just copying the MP3 files to My Music folder via USB cable work?
Thanks .
