I tried all possible combination of the keys: # * and ON to get my V400 in bootloader status, but it always turns on normally and asks for my SIM password.
I got the program from GSM liberty and the cable, but can't set the phone to be ready for update. What am I missing ?
Many thanks,
I beleave you have to hold both of those keys down while powering on would take you to a white screen boot loader mode.
that is exactly what I am doing: press both of them, then powering it ... then it boots normally and asks for my SIM PW, and don't go to a white screen. Is there another way to invoke the bootloader mode ?
thx

I am trying to get it in bootloader mode so I can get rid of the lock and use it in Brazil with other GSM card. I went to a Cingular store yesterday, where they recomended me the GSM Liberty web site, and the guy couldn't get the phone in bootload mode. He showed me how it worked in a V 5XX and it worked fine by doing what you are saying, but it is not working on the V400. He even had a new one in stock, and tried doing it on that, and it did not work too.
We tried 1+2+3 while powering on, # + *, ... nope nope nope, it doesn't turn on. there has got to be a diferent way to get in the bootload mode, the question is how ???
thx

Phone unlock is what you need, so that you would be able to use your fone with other carrier like cingular..ect. In your case after unlock the fone and say you travel to Europ instead of pay for expensive international service ( $3 a mini) you can just buy local prepaid simcard to use while you are there.
Subsidy code is the code that use to unlock your fone.
Call Tmobil and let them know that you are going to travael out of state would like to have the subidy code to unlock your fone so that you can use it over there, they'll give it to you Tmobil is known to do that. Hope that clear out all your question , if not keep asking
