Thats just the name of the address. They handle "subsidy codes" as well.

Hi,
I've been having a problem trying to get my Motorola A1000 unlocked, I called my carrier (T-Mobile) and requested a couple of times to get it unlocked but they're just a bunch of morons, they were telling me that they don't support the phone....I says OK but can't they call/contact Motorola to get the instructions & codes to get it unlocked?
Anybody??...please!!....I would appreciate my whole life.

That is hard for me to chew on, how can they said that ?, they sell you the darn fone did they? and they are the one who's telling motorola to inbeded the code in there, cause i have call motorola many time asking for code they said that they are not allow to hand it out and tell me i have to contact my proiver for it. Have you been with them over 90 days yet?
and it is a triband fone? Go to your local store and ask the manager for the unlock code . Good luck

I was wondering if there are any disadvantages to unlocking a phone? I want to get my v180 unlocked because it looks like we have to switch from AT&T to Cingular. The guy at the phone store told my husband that if you have your phone unlocked "it makes your number easier to be stolen". That didn't make sense to me from what I've read, but maybe I'm missing something. Any help understanding this is much appreciated!

That is beyong me too, did you ask him why?. As far as i know there is none, it make your fone more valuable to the theft because it is easy to sell, but that all i can think of

Old_Fool,
Have a similar problem, purchased an MPX220 from Cingular on Saturday after receiving bunk info from a sales rep. My phone is locked and will not accept my AT&T sim without an unlock code. Are you able to unlock a Cingular MPX220?

if you unlock your phone by flashing and flex or using a smart clip will u still need a subsidy code afterwards or is it already unlocked?

No, if you use a smart clip it in a way removes the bit that checks for the SIM type, so if you have it done through smart clip no more subsidy code, if done through IMEI calculation you should have to do only once. And if done by flash/flexing just the same as smartclip in most respects.

I got my V600 unlocked in Westminister. A place called "Cell U Page." Its not close, but worth a try.
