I recently purchased a Moto Razr V3. Before I did this I called Singular and asked them if the phone was unlocked. I told them my carrier was T-Mobile. They asured me it would be unlocked but I would of course have to pay the full price $600. I did and to my dismay it was indeed LOCKED.
I called the manager who suddenly played dumb and offered a full refund. I said I paid for the phone unlocked and thats what I expect. He said there was nothing he could do. For "Blank" & Giggles I called T-Mobile. Nothing they could do. I drove to a local cell shop that specializes in unlocking phones who said he has unlocked a number of the V3's already. Reasonable price too, $15 He was dumbfounded! He couldn't do it. He said it must be a new version or series. He said I would have to wait until new software was available.
I then called Cingular again and spoke with a supervisor. She said that the only one who could unlock it or offer the unlock code was the manufacturer...Motorola. I called Motorola and they said they could not, by law, give out the codes and that only the carrier can. He informed me of a website Cingular has where you can request the Subsidy password or code. However, the website states this is only for active Cingular customers.
In the middle of all this I begin to feel as if I am in a "Keystone Cops" movie.
So, I was honest, paid for the product and this is what I get. And the truth is I was truely considering moving over to Cingular once my contract was up. Not now!! I can't believe these idiots do business this way. Sorry but these Bozo's need to be regulated!! |

A very similar story here wolfman. But I did manage to get the 8 digit "Subsidy Code" from the service provider I bought the phone from. The problem I now face is that I dont have the SIM card of Vodafone which I can insert and then enter the subsidy code. Sucks!!
Did you manage to the the firmware from your local cell shop which would unlock the phone?

you actualy need a simcard from a different provider to put in your phone, so said your phone is lock to Voda fone network then you would use any other network simcard say...Tmobile or Cingular and insert it in. When you insert the different sim in phone will ask you for subsidy code or subsidy password and that is when you start to enter the 8 digit code in. Once the code entered phone will likely to reboot, then it will accept that simcard and that my friend your fone is unlock

Hi there-
I just bought a T721 (AT&T phone on the GSM network) from someone, but I can't get my Cingular SIM card to work in it (it prompts for a subsidy code). I tried calling Cingular, but they said they couldn't help me.
Seeing as Cingular and AT&T are now one company and run on the exact same network, you'd think I'd be able to easily unlock the phone that was distributed by the company that is now owned by Cingular.
Any suggestions?

Do you have MSS 3.5.8 and PST 6.7? Do you know how to falsh and flex the fone? cause if you do then i have a upgrade pack for you to upgrading it to T720i and also unlock it.

Try this email address: simunlockcode@cingular.com
But they won't help you if you are not their customer...
I've been in similar situation with my new (Cingular) Motorola MPx220. Going from one person to another - AT&T, Cingular, Motorola... eventually I purchased the unlock code form GSMliberty.com for $45. Didn't work. Many tries with different SIM cards, many emails with unlock support people, it just didn't want to unlock. After 3 weeks of trying, I returned the MPX220 back to Amazon.com and now sticking to my Nokia 6590.
