It's is true, USA using 850-1900. 850is the first of used with GSM is slow but penetrating the 1900 is later tech fast but no penetration. Cingular and AT&T have use both

I'm not using the right word for it , but like if you are down in the basement of the building you can still got reception, but with 1900 you won't at all or reception is very weak, sorry for my bad English as i'm still learning it

| duceduc wrote: | Although most Motorola phones are nearly impossible to unlock without the proper equipment(s), your other options are to call your service provider, Motorola directly, or a local phone shop for assistance. Furthermore, subsidery codes are not easily obtained via the net nor do we have them.

So I'm an AT&T customer with a new cingular V3. The phone works and is great, but of course like many of you I am looking for a way to unlock my phone for travel overseas.
After a litany of phone calls and email and getting bounced from ATT, Cingular, and Motorola eight thousand times I have acheived nothing more than frustation. I am still waiting on simunlock@cingular.com...it has been 4 days now...and for one of my friends to get a smartclip, but I leave the country in two days...
BUT... I thought you guys might be interested in the following clause taken from Cingular's customer service agreement:
"Your Phone has been manufactured to operate exclusively with Service provided by us [Cingular]. The Phone cannot be activated with any other wireless carrier."
NOW Here is the kicker. I don't know about you guys, but I never signed anything or saw any contract presenting the terms of service. I didn't sign or agree to ANYTHING. BUT! Catch #653... By placing a call over their network you agree to their terms of service that you never saw...someone might consider questioning the legality of that shifty move....
There are many other interesting clauses in thier service agreement. For instance, at their discretion, they can reassign your number to another user at any time. You also waive your right to class action suites...yadda..yadda...yadda...
Aside from never mentioning private property, length of service term etc... finding this service agreement is impossible... i had to call Cingular to find it...Lame...
Seriously, this is all a little too ridiculous...
So yeah...if anyone figures out how to f**k cingular over...count me in.
