my opinion is same with the guy above
but i think that motorola and siemens are getting worse
quite a few of my friends and i switch fones very often, and we have found that the worse foneso n teh market rite now are siemens and motorola..

motorolea is just terrible with their fones...ugly.....poor reception, bad menus
siemens have nice looking fones, but their programs arent good..

sony ericsson, Nokia, and samsung would be the best brands out there so far...but i think Nokia is probably stil in the lead
they might be slow in technology, but they have a better marketing stradegy, their fones are easier to use, good compatibility, and they are imporving fast

Put it this way: Nokia will continue to be #1 simply because they were the only real game going around 1998-1999, which is when most people started riding on the cellular phone wave. They got comfortable with what their phones had to offer, and didn't see enough fatal flaws (let's face it, does Nokia have ANY fatal flaws?) to necessitate a brand migration. Their captive market is way too strong to vanish too quickly over the next 2 or so years.

On the other hand, you will always have a bunch of techno-snobs who like to have what not everyone else has - sort of like how Volkswagen marketed the Beetle the first time around. They like being rebels (as opposed to the lemmings they see Nokia users as), and will probably constitute the majority of Samsung/SE's user bases.

Plus, while some people feel Nokia has overly diluted their product range (remember the days when your only choices were a 5110 "value phone", a 6110 "yuppie phone", and an 8810 "fashion phone"?), the fact remains that what they offer addresses real consumer segments with real needs. At one point, for example, my two younger siblings were getting their first phones, 3310's, while I had a 6510 and my mom had an 8850. We were a Nokia family - our units had radically different price points, and prodct feature offerings, but they were all of the same brand. So I would agree with what others have said - Nokia has superior marketing. Not in the sense of advertising, but in knowing what different segments need.

I like SE though, which is why I finally got a T610. I like being unique here in the Philippines, where 7 out of 10 people are using Nokias. And I'm glad they're not #1 (or even #2) cos that's what will make them keep on pushing the envelope as far as innovation and style is concerned.

Show some maturity bunta. This is not a place to be calling people names. This is an OPINION forum - not FACTUAL. So please, expect people to say things based on their own personal experience. You're happy with your Nokia, and that's fine. I was happy with my Nokia before, and I'm happy with my SE now.

yeah u maybe right although samsung are slightly better than nokia in ways that u mentioned but nokia have kept it the same there by improving slowy. samsung however jump from here 2 there with thier phones and r not as good quality as nokia. This is because samsung r trying to race for the top spot with bad quality phones.

The Samsung's have actully better quality then Nokia ive looked on many websites (swedish websites) where the nokia rarely gets even 6 out of 10 and Samsungs often gets about 7-8 out of 10. And ive tested a Nokia that did have about the same stuff as my (v200) but Nokia phones are extremly rarely over 4096 colors when Samsung has 65536 colors, but whit the lack of JAVA. If i would go to a shop now and i had to choose a phone between Nokia and Samsung (even if it was the oldest phones they ever made) i would choose samsung, becuse i personaly hate Nokias(!!!OBS!!!all nokia lovers, dont take this personaly!!!).. And Samsung does not explode like Nokias do..And theyre not self burning like some of the Nokias does.. (Sorry if you dont understans some of the word... not so good on english)

In fairness, those "exploding Nokias" were using fake batteries, according to the release I remember.

I've yet to see fake SE/Samsung accessories. Here in the Philippines you can get new Nokia housings for something like US$2, batteries for US$10, car chargers for US$4, etc. It's like how all hackers attack Microsoft software cos it's no prevalent. Nobody attacks Linux or Mac, cos there aren't enough users to bother with. In the same way, the SE and Samsung user bases aren't big enough to create pirated accessories for.

Low end Nokia phones are really unimpressive compared to low end Sony erricsons or even low end Motorlas .

I'm a proud owner of a nokia 3650. I bought it because I couldn't afford a SE P800. I do a lot of reading and I have used quite a number of phones. That said the Nokia branded cell phones are on average still anyones best bet when compared to the competition. I hear talk of the Sv206 colour screen and I agree, its darn pretty but the v206 can't touch the 3650 in terms of screen calrity (even 3650 camera pics are cleaner looking once taken than v206). Sound wise is where the 3650 struggles but that aside the 3650 is evey bit better, feature wise.

As for the panasonic GD88 and the motorola v600 (or even the sagem myx6), those phones may have pretty sounding features but at the end of the day the functionality, upgradability and mobility of the 7650/3650/3660/6600/Ngage rule. With the upcoming 7700 , Nokia will up the ante even further.

At the top of the hill, treo and blackberry aside, the nokia communicator and the P900 are the two best choices of cell phone out there.

As for nokia being boreing, what a laugh. Go to all the company websites and take a look at their phone models. In terms of design only the nokia page features any real variation. Nokia dares to make their phones look different. As for familiarity, If your menu structure is so cool why change it. It makes Nokia the standard in menu structure and ease of use.

Symbian rocks and though the earlier symbian models have glitches don't knock them (even the P800 has its share of problems). I see the new Panasonic models moving towards symbian.

As you can probably tell, I'm not moved by 65K screens (some 65K screens are fuzzy), fancy looks, clamshell designs. I want functionality and the only area that a Nokia phone stumbles in is sound (if you own a 3650/3660 you know what I mean).

Between the P900 and the upcoming Nokia 9500 I would go with the 9500.
