Hi there Forum
I am going absolutly crazy here
Here is my problem.
I have a mobile number stored as a local mobile number say 021 777 666 as FRIEND, now when that mobile calls the caller ID comes up as FRIEND.
However when that same mobile send me an SMS(Text Message), then the ID doesnt come up but rather the international number comes up +64 21 777 666.
My only workaround is to store all my mobile numbers as the local number and the full international format, then the caller ids work for sms and calls.
This doesnt happen with any of my other phones.
I know why, or at least understand why.
When vodafone passes a call to me the send it without the international code prefix, and when they send sms they include the international code prefix, as this makes it unique as sms are basically emails I guess.
Is the motorola v600 that stupid? Why do non of my other phones (Nokia, Ericson, Treo) do this, or get it wrong.
I also seem to notice that it only started doing this after I used my data cable to copy over a few mp3's as ring tones?
Please help, I'm going nuts here.
thanks in advance

Did you mod your phone internally with p2kman? It happened to me in the past after I upgraded to a different firmware. Somehow the new firmware disable that caller id feature. I use this site to re-enable it.

No, I did not mod the phone in any way.
Caller ID does work, just not for both calls and sms(text messages).
If I save two contacts on my phone one as 021 777 666 and another as +64 21 777 666, then both caller and sms id's work.
But I would like not to store contacts twice.
This must be a common problem, help please
cheers

I had similiar problem before. However, I do not know the exact offset number to edit.
I was using xlr8 code sheet to fix my issue. Take alook around and find something that say caller id.

hmm, unfortuantely I dont have a data cable to try this but the phone is literally 2 hours old. The number is recognised if the person calls me but not if they text me. Seem the caller id does not like the international code if someone calls me and for the texting caller id it has to be there.

but if I do that then the caller ID does not appear if someone calls me, only if they text me. This is why the number has to be entered twice, once with the 1+ and once without

yes, I will have to give Motorola a call at some point to see what they have to say. Thanks for your help anyway.
