Uploaded a file via Bitpim to my VX6000 (its a .mid version of the phone ring on Fox's 24)...I can select it as my ringtone on the phone's menu..but no preview sounds when I select it....what could the issue be? The file plays fine on the PC too....
Thanks for all the good info on hte site BTW...its thanks to Mobiledia that I found bitpim and how to begin to customize my LG phone!
Happy Holidays
Dave

34KB uploaded by USB cable
Lemme guess..too long? I thought size wasnt an issue if directly uploaded via cable as opposed to vwpiz.com or some such application

34 KB shouldn't be bad....i heard something about 30 KB being ok, but i think i heard that about sending the file e-mail....directly connecting with USB, you should be fine...Try a Different song and let me know what happens

I uploaded a 515 byte Harry Potter ringtone that works OK....
The file was originally an mp3 that I renamed a .mid file...could that be it..do I need a shareware program to to a true conversion to midi format?
Specifically I'm trying to get a midi file of the phones from the TV show 24
that sounds decent. There's a pay site that sends it right to you..but Im a bit leery...theres got to be a good midi file somewhere.
theres a one herehttp://www.ccir.ed.ac.uk/~jad/ringtone.html but the free one doesnt sound too good ..and I cant get the mp3 or wav to convert with any luck

You do not need a program to change the file extension, your good on that, the "24" song you have....was it originally a .MID, or .MP3?, what program are you using to convert?, soory bout all the questions, just trying to narrow it down.

Nytro...got the converted file and it sounds AWESOME..,
No trouble uploading it and sampling the ringer from "My Media"...now I just have to call myself to test it out for sure.
Happy Holidays and THANKS ALOT for helping me and the rest of the folks here on Mobiledia.
