Guys
Just to help. I had the same message "white space not allowed at this location".
Had a quick scroll through all my pics and found I had one named "nat & dan". Renamed to removed the '&' and mobile phonetools worked straight away. No need to reinstall or redetect. I actually did the rename while the phone was still connected to the PC and MPT was running.
Thanks for this post!

Hello,
I have a different problem with MPT on my razr v3. Whenever I click on Phonebook or Calendar, I get the following pop-up window with the error message and asks me if I want to send the error report to MS:
"PhoneBk.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
Calendar gives the same msg except it says "Calendar" instead of PhoneBk.exe. All the other buttons work fine.
I'm running MPT 3.11. The reason I'm not running a newer version is because the Multiimedia Studio will stop working when I run any other MPT version other than 3.11, so I"m now stuck with 3.11 if I want to be able to upload my own ringtones.
But now, I also need to transfer all my contacts from an old sim to the new sim (I just upgraded to this phone), and I can't do it. Any ideas? Just wondering if I'm missing some drivers or have some other conflict. My computer is running XP Pro SP2. I have verified that the phonebook on MPT 3.11 works on my friend's computer running the same OS. Just trying to get it to work on my own computer. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Why do you think it will stop working if you update MPT? Do you have a V3c? Which provider?

I went through the update all the way to 4.21 before. The MM Studio crashed and gave me the same message I'm getting as the PhoneBk one I described above when I try to start it after the update. For some reason, MM Studiio wouldn't work after any of the step ugrades I did from 3.11. I had to finally revert back to 3.11 to get it to work again.
Since I use the MM Studio most, this was what I've been living with. Now that I also need to use Phonebook, I'm just trying to get it to work as well. I didn't check if Phonebook works at the newer version before I reverted it back, but I don't really want to upgrade it and break MM Studio again to find out. If I can get Phonebook to work at 3.11, I'll probably just stick with it. Since I've seen Phonebook 3.11 work on other machines, there must be something wrong or conflicting about my system setup. Just looking for any ideas or comments from others who may have experienced the same issue before. Thanks.
Oh, I have the regular V3 (blue) with Cingular.

The latest version should work fine with the V3 - only CDMA carriers get this function blocked (e.g. Verizon)

I guess I can give it a try again and see what happens. Will try tonight and let you know.

I just spent the last couple of hours playing with this and I'm back to square one. I tested it with each upgrade step, and as soon as I went any version beyond 3.11, MM Studio crashes like Phonebook and Calendar. I went all the way to 4.04, and by then, the app won't even start up anymore. It would hang trying to initialize and I'd have to kill it each time to get out.
I gave up at that point and tried to restore it back to before I started the upgrade. (I had created a restore point before I ran LiveUpdate.) However, XP wouldn't restore, but that's a whole different issue for me. I just uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled 3.11 to get just MM Studio to work again. Phonebook and Calendar still crash as before. They also didn't work at 3.28 or 4.04.
I did get Phonebook to work on my work laptop, though. I think there's some driver issue with my home system. I noticed that LiveUpdate installed some unsigned driver in XP's restore window during the 4.04 upgrade. Whatever that driver was, I think it screwed something up that XP can't even restore to any previous point after that. Oh well. I guess I'll have to use my laptop for the Phonebook app and use my home desktop for MM Studio. Thanks.
