I have been w/T-Mobile for over 2 yrs. My contract is over with them. I just purchased a new phone through Amazon.com with T-Mobile. I have talked to 3 customer service agents and they all say I CAN'T transfer the phone number from my old phone (still active) to my new phone (also active). They said I would have to buy the phone from them, that is the only way they will let me keep my number. Can they do that? Is there any way around this? I really hate T-Mobile but I've checked other plans/phones and they have the best to offer. I suppose swapping the sim card won't make a difference? The new phone is a Nokia 6600.

Remove the SIM card from your old phone.
Place the SIM card in your new phone.
You have now transferred the number to the new phone.

According to T-Mobile, that won't work because that will cancel out my rebates with Amazon.com with the new phone.

With your current service that you have confirmed is NOT on contract can be canceled, the request once canceled can be placed to have the mobile number from the canceled mobile number transferred to the new mobile number that you currently have
The inactive mobile number if available can be made available and transferred to your current mobile number that you have now.
