Can you explain that a bit simpiler for me please sorry

Ive also tried mobile phone tools is asks me to plug in the usb cable i do and the clock just spins round and round for ages and does nothing. At the same time windows comes up with the usual guff asking to link to windows update for a driver and then says installation failed.

try this with you fone pulg in . Setting--control panel--system----harwear--device manager-- modem thendouble clik --- update driver, choose advance and specific location the point it to your MPT folder.
Sample C:\program:\MPT\ inf. If this not work you need to go thru live update.

Now do the same thing don't let window install the driver for you , do it manually, cause window will install generic and that won't work
