I just want to put a custom background on my phone but I'm not sure where to start, I've managed to obtain all the programs that I read about but P2kMan complains about my phone not supporting EFS.
PST works cause I was able to download from my phone my BREW information.
Noticed that my phone don't support java... shitty.
I read about using EMS to edit files created with PST to change images and stuff, but not sure if I can do that on my phone.
I guess the big question is that can you do anything with a E310 or should I take it back and go find a different phone. I really like the phone but I'm interested in hacking/programming my own stuff for it.
Also I noticed that the BREW people aren't about to let just any old joe create application for phones... oh they'll give you the sdk but if you want the required tools for building and loading applications you out of luck, unless you got deep pockets.
Oh and also I found GAGIN and gave that a whirl but that gave me trouble as well.
Just wondering if anybody has had success with the E310.
Thanks

Update.
A friend of mine has a T720 so I tried using PST with EMS Manager on his phone and it worked perfectly. I was able to upload a wallpaper/background to his phone and he was able to set it as his background.
When I try to reproduce the same process with my phone it get an error in PST saying "M-Services (EMS) backup not supported for this type of phone"
Does that mean I'm shit out of luck cause if so I'm going to buy a different phone.
Thanks

Never heard of the phone before. If you have the software, you can try it.

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=294
The phone has been out for more than a year and I'm surprised I can't find more information about it.
If you have this phone or know somebody who does please post any information about it.

Heres some more info...
Tools I've tried.
PST Phone Programmer ( version 7.1.1_GENERAL )
-- I was able to connect to the phone and can pull the contacts and some other information.
-- The part of it that you would use in conjunction with EMS Manager doesn't work because I get the error message that states "M-Services (EMS) backup not supported for this type of phone".
-- I was able to use this process with a T720 phone and it worked very nicely.
P2kTools
-- Downloaded new version today and managed to get parts of it in english by editing the ini file. It doesn't connect to my phone in AT mode but in SMS mode it connects to my phone but then gives some sort of error message but its hard to tell what ???? ??????? ???? means in the error message
MIDWay
-- Tried this and didn't have much luck as this is for Java programs and the phone doesn't support Java (Brew only)
GAGIN
-- Tried several version of this with serveral patches... didn't get anywhere with it as I kept getting error messages about my "Attached device on specified port does not appear to support EFS"
P2k Phone File Manager
-- With using this program I get an error message about "Receiving file list..... UNSUPPORTED/INVALID PARAMETER FOR OPCODE FAIL!"
Thats all the tools that I have (besides MPT from Moto) and that works fine but doesn't let me do .
If you find anything or if anyone else knows anything please input. If I missed a tool just let me know which and I'll track it down and test with it.

I personally and a few other people have never heard of this phone in my/ our lives. Considering it doesn't support JAVA(!) I would recommend taking it back and getting a newer model. I would recommend a phone in the Vxxx series.

This phone is failry new, I think it came out in late 2003 or in early 2004. I like the phone and it works pretty good. Just pisses me off that its been out for a while and I can't find any information about it.
Oh ya and I haven't gotten anywhere, tried another piece of software but it didn't work out well.
Motorola Service Software 3.2.3
-- I've managed to get this hooked up to my phone and can get some information from the phone but I don't think this version supports my phone because it is not identified correctly. If anyone has a newer version of this phone please feel free to email me
Anybody with any information.
