The first thing is to call T-Mobile and ask them for your unlock code (I do not know if this code is the same for all customers), in my case the unlock code was 10085215. After having the unlock code, type the following (using 10085215 as the unlock code):
#011*10085215#press the send or the call key
After that you will see a message "personalization cancelled"
Voila! Now your E715 is unlocked.
Note: this procedure must be done with the original T-Mobile USA SIM card inserted in your phone. Do not use any foreigner SIM with this procedure. After unlocking your phone using the original T-Mobile USA SIM card, your E715 will be ready to work with any foreigner SIM card.
Regards,
Dan

Hi,
Dan's unlock code DOES NOT work. Be careful not to try too many times or your phone will lock up.
The best bet is to call your provider and ask for the unlock code. They may give your some excuse but stand firm. The phone is owned by you and they have no right to not give you the unlock code.
You can also say you're leaving the country and want to use that country's sim card.
Good luck,
Bob

BTW. I believe that every e715 phone has a different unlock code. I tried to unlock mine with my other e715 and it didn't work as Dan's didn't work.

Turn off the phone. Put a non-accepted Simcard and turn it on. Type *#9998*3323#. Press Exit. Choose menu #7. After phone reboots type *0141# and hit the Call button. Turn off and insert another Simcard. Turn on. The code is 00000000.
In newer phones:
#*7337#

I called TMobile and asked for the unlock codes for my 2 phones. They emailed them in about 36 hours.
I now have 2 Motorola V330 phones and called TMobile and am awaiting the unlock codes.
I haven't found a better cellphone provider yet. TMobile is the best by far.

Yep as long as you have 90 days of service, and your account is active you can get an unlock code (1 per 90 days).

Not true, I just renewed my contract [family plan] and called for unlock codes for both phones. They said they would put it in motion and I should get the codes shortly.
BTW, TMobile's customer service is far, far better than Verizon, Cingular, Sprint and Nextel here in NY.

Only the billing name can request an unlock code
You can request sim subsidy unlock code at point of purchase in the state of California if you pay full price for your phone.

I believe it also depends on which cs person one gets. So far I've been lucky. Only a few Aholes at cs including supervisors.
