once you sign up on a two year contract after the first 30 days you are commited to that two year agreement. if you are wanting a 1 year agreement it would be best to get it when you sign up

if you want m2m, you'll have to sign at least a 1 year contract. you can change it to a one year within the first 30 days, but as Cptech said, it's best to do it right away as you'll have to redo the contract, pay the difference for the phone, etc.

as for phones, it really depends on what you're looking for. there's some great deals online, but if you're looking for more help, then check into a store.

contracts are dumb. they should all be discontinued. just pay full price for the phone and thats it.

just want to chime in... New activations require a min 1 year contract, the 'no contract' option in the system is a throwback (you'll also see 3 year contracts in the system, we don't do those either). m2m also requires at least a 1 year commitment. All kinds of things can be done in the system counter to policy, but as a rule a contract is required on new service, regardless how much you spent for the phone or where you bought it. Otherwise, it is GoPhone for you.

Another advantage of the contract is that Cingular will warranty the phone instead of having to send it back to the manufacturer.

csp says nothing about a mandatory 1 year contract. it does state that the month-to-month contract is available. eventhough a customer does not have to sign a contract for a period of time, a contract must be signed for the customer to comply with cingular's terms and conditions.

If a contract has to be signed to comply with T&C, that would suggest that a contract is required. Other channels may be able to activate with no contract, but COR stores are not able, and from what I understand, the e-store can't even do a 1-year. if telesales is able to, I don't know, but I've had several telesales reps send customers into the store for no-contract, so maybe it's possible.

from csp

Quote:

Note: Customers who do not sign up for a promotional rate plan AND elect to pay the "no commitment" pricing for the handset or activate with their own equipment, are not required to accept a termed service agreement. (12 or 24 month agreement.) However, they are still required to accept a "No Commitment" service agreement.

Although the customer is not committed to any specific time frame, they are required to understand our policies and procedures which is covered in the Terms and Conditions.

if you care enough to look, the solution is #1729, and #2138

we can't do it for migration either. i assume it's only through a store.

Here is a question:

If one decided to do a no commitment plan, instead of a 2yr agreement, out of curiosity, how much extra would it cost per month to add unlimted m2m and or n&w?

Is that even possible w/Cingular, or is there no wiggle room here?
