I just got my phone sent via mail from Cingular, I charged it and can make calls but I cannot see any display. Cingular says it's probably the contrast but they just told me to go to my manual. I go the the manual and it tells me to arrow thru the menus. Now if I cannot see the menus how do I know where I am on the menu??? If anyone has the same phone and can describe to me the up down right lefts that I need to do to get to the display contrast and then what to hit when I think I get there to try and change this so I can see it that would be greatly greatly appreciated. I really don't relish hitting a cingular store two days before Christmas but will if I REALLY have to. Thanks so much! icon_frown.gif

have you tried a shock master reset, the shop should have talked you through this.. i wish they did, cos i have forgot how. icon_blink.gif i believe you hold the '*' & '#' & Power for about ten seconds... i believe this is supposed to reset all factory settings, but have never had to do it icon_frown.gif

I am having the same darn problem! I don't know why it is happening either! I love this phone but without display it is hard to use! I can still make calls and dial but it's all blind! I have no solutions! At first I thought it was my sim card but it seems to me that the only way is to turn it off and leave it off for long periods of time which is stupid really! That sometimes doesn't work either. The motorola site has nothing on the issue so I am at a loss as well and shock master reset does not work!

I went to the cingular store and explained the problem to them, they didn't even look at it and said we'll give you a new phone! So I walked out with a new phone in hand and a working display. For anyone else having the issue and you want to try and find your way through the menu to see if it is the contrast follow the steps below. I can't tell you it will work but heck anything is worth a try right? When you hit the menu button you get nine icons to choose from and your cursor starts in the center so you need to arrow down once and right once and select to get to settings. Then arrow down 5 times and select. Then arrow down 7 times and select. The arrow to the right to brighten your contrast. If that works glad I could help if not I'd head to your local store and see if they can fix it or switch it out if still under warranty. Thanks for the response!

The problem I forsee is it is just going to happen again with every phone. it's either a bug with every phone or a setting that needs to be changed! My problem is all my contacts are on the phone and I don't wanna lose them all!

Thanks Greenleaf - I was having the same display problem and tried the shock master reset ( hold the '*' & '#' & Power for about ten seconds) and it worked!

You saved me some serious headaches!
