But I do know that Cingular had a poor reputation before the merger for their service. I also know that AT&T (where alot of the new representatives are from) prided themselves for their customer service.
I know in my call center alone, they have weeded out alot of the reps who didn't seem to care about the customer.
So what i'm really trying to say is give us another call, and see if we can fix the problem for you! |
can we have your extension in case we need future help? you can be our favorite rep

lol, can't give you that (Inbound only call center, unless we get prior approval from a supervisor to make outbound calls). I'm in a queue all day long. But I can give you my email address, in case you need some general assistance, or need some questions answered. In some cases I may be able to troubleshoot a little bit for you. Don't be afraid to email me, I'll do what I can! (even if it means talking my sup into letting me call you!)

Then, I realize that Cingular do suck for me, when I tried to dial-up to the Internet using Bluetooth Modem on the phone. Same phone works on T-Mobile, but does not for Cingular. It appears that Cingular has turned off this feature on their network, so by default, they don't let you use your phone to dial-up into a regular modem ISP. This is because they want to charge you for Wireless Internet services and their monthly plans and rates are outrageous compared to T-Mobile. With T-Mobile, dial-up works without paying anything extra.
In sense of Bluetooth Dial-Up ISP support, Cingular do suck! Otherwise, reception is definitely better since the AT&T join up. |
Cingular does not have anything to do with the operation, or lack thereof, of bluetooth on your cell phone. The bluetooth is entirely resident on your phone and does not use Cingular's network in any way. That feature is added by the manufacturer to give added value to your cellphone but is in no way supported or restricted by Cingular Wireless. In short, if your bluetooth doesn't work then it is either user error or something is wrong with your phone. Cingular didn't do it.

The truth is that SBC chose Verizon only in those areas where Cingular is not available. In other areas, where Cingular is available it, not Verizon, is the provider of choice for wireless service. The reason for using Verizon at all is that Cingular is not allowed, by FCC regulation, to operate in every market. That means that we cannot offer local numbers to all wireless users in a company the size of SBC. Put simply, Cingular does not operate towers and have local numbers for everyone at SBC because they operate in markets where Cingular does not.

I Didn't mean to make people assume that Cingulars reps were horrible, or that Cingular was a bad company before the merger. I'm sorry if I made it sound like that. I was just expressing my feelings of loyalty for AT&T, possibly a little too much.

I certainly can relate to your frustration!I live out in the country and can not get any signals from my house,i have to climb a mountain(hill)in order to use it here!ALTHOUGH i wouldn't agree that it's horrible.I am glad that Cingular allows me to have a cell phone because it comes it handy when i'm in town or away from home! The only two providers for my area is Cingular and Alltel...and alltel is a joke and a half(in my opinion)I'm just glad that i was able to get service, period! So i'm not complaining.I'm very happy with my Cingular experience so far.My boyfriend lives in a different area and has Sprint and he SWEARS by it and wishes they offered sprint in my area.....But i'm not so sure that i'd switch to Sprint even if they did offer it in my area!Goooo CINGULAR!(ok,there's my .02)

This is the first time I've seen someone writes with no spaces after a complete sentence.
I didn't mean anything by it but I have got to comment on it.
Welcome aboard to Mobiledia.

I read that you cant get service at your university. I bet its UC Santa Cruz. They have no towers in that area. Cingular has good service usually to bad for you. Its Cingulars customer service and evil little ways that suck.

Morgan, have you tried looking into a signal booster so that you could use the phone in your home? There are quite a few manufacturers selling them, though I'm not sure how well they work. A couple of the manufacturers I've seen are:
Wilson Cellular, Signal Reach, Intellgain, and Digital Antenna. The ones I saw were running between $250-$350, but the convenience of not having to run up the hill may make it worthwhile...

I have to admit I've had some problems with Cingular's tech reps, but the cellular service is incredible! I was recently in Europe and my phone worked everywhere! I'm glad Cingular offers the GSM frequency. It is extremely convenient!
Cingular is wonderful!
