Since ATT and Cingular merged, should we be expecting better signal strength when the transfer is actually done? I just got a Cingular GSM phone and the signal strength blows. Maybe with ATT"s equipment and towers itll be better

Thanks

it all depends on your location and also your phone. if ATTWS and Cingular had overlapping networks in your market, then your phone should be able to pick the one with the best signal now. other then that, you should have increased coverage.

I have AT&T GSM service and my wife has Cingular GSM service. I get full signal at home and she only gets one or two bars. She has to go outside to use her phone where I can use mine fine in the house. What gives?

If you have at7t and it does overalp, you wont necessarily get the better strength. Switching to one of the new Cingular plans gives you a new phone with a 64K sim card. Right now your at&t phone automatically picks up an at&t tower, until that signal dies, it wont pick up another one, even tho theres a Cingular tower giving you 5 bars, you'll remain with 2. If you have a 64K sim card with a new phone from Cingular, the phone automatically picks up the best signal strength from the two networks, thus giving you more bars.

is it possible to upgrade your SIM card if you are an existing Cingular customer to take advantage of the automtic switching between networks (rather than manually switching networks like i have to do now) w/o extra charges?
