Hi, Thanks for your availability! I have a cingular contract and a tdma phone. can i buy a cingular gsm phone on ebay and take it to a cingular dealer and have it activated without any changes to the length of my contract? how do i buy the right sim card on ebay for my location? is it the number of numbers (e.g. 20), or the starting several numbers? what is the significance of the sim card model number and the 32k vs 64 k etc.? I am in bucks county pa, but i'm sure other people want to know as well how it works. will a cingular dealer activate the sim card? will i be able to keep my current phone number? Thanks so much for your help!!

My understanding of the text message when you get a voicemail is due to T-Mobile's voicemail system not supporting the message waiting indicator - any phone line I've ever had with T-Mo has always had the annoying SMS instead of the indicator.
If you're getting the text message with Cingular, you may want to call 611 - there may be an option in your voicemail settings as to what you prefer...

Apparently there is No "MY ACCOUNT" access at Cingular web site f/ commercial or business accounts?
We called Cust Svc. and this is what we were told. Seems like commercial customers would be more likely to use and require this availability. Additionally, since 80% of the on-line "HELP" directs you to use the "MY ACCOUNT" feature this leaves the Cingular Business Customer at a dead-end. How about it Cingular, can you get this remedied??? we need on-line access too, (if not more) - Thanks - jFA

Im an ex att employee now cingular employee as well, I'll see if i can help too!
About the migration from ATT TDMA to cingular GSM:
If youre buying a sim card on ebay please make sure it hasn't been used previously. The sim card holds all of the customers information on GSM technology. If it has been used before, you cant use it at all. The 32K sim card was standard before the merger. Now the "new cingular" uses a 64K sim card, which really means that it can hold more information on it (64k allows 500 numbers stored). Also the 64k sim card allows the phone not to discriminate against which network the customer is on (for example an old att account with 32k sim card, would naturally reach out to an att tower, whether or not it was the best signal at the time, where the new sim cards combine att & cingular's towers, allowing the phone to choose between both companies towers, to choose the best possible signal at that time.) If you want to keep your number you should migrate your service to Cingular's GSM. Right now is a prime time too, there is a one time fee of 18 (a discounted activation fee for former att customers), and in any case we have availiability to several different phones which we can offer discounts for contracts. I know your not looking for a new contract, if you call 611, they can look in your area and see what kind of deals on phones they can get, just let them know your not looking for a new contract.

about the PUK code
When you enter in your pin number too many times, the phone will ask for a PUK, which is a Phone Unlock Key. It really is put there for your protection, so if someone is trying to use your phone, and the pin is in place, they can't guess your code. Unfortunately each sim card has a specific PUK code, that customer care has access to. If you enter in the PUK code wrong too many times (usually 3), it will block the sim card, making unusable. (If the phone says sim blocked, you've already went to far. The only way to remedy this is to purchase a new SIM card, which you can get at a store for 25.00)

about the expired contract on AT&T:
I'm surprised they told you you had to have a new 2 yr. There is a way they can offer the M2M unlimited with a 1 yr contract. Did they also tell you that we have features (not requiring a contract renewal) that if you really wanted M2M, you can pay so much for so many minutes (example 4.99 for 1000 Mobile to Mobile Minutes).
