Hi,
First merry xmas!!!!
I've recently bought a mobile phone from US, but when I received it I find that is T-mobile locked. Oh! surprise! :-/
As far as I know (I called Tmobile customer service) I need to be a 90 days customer in order to claim for an unlock code.
I have tried to open a Tmobile plan (legal way to unlock my mobile) but it seems to be a headache from outside US (Im in Spain, right now).
I cant provide an US social security number, I can provide my passport number but It is a problem...
I cant provide an US bank account, I can pay by credit card, but as far as Im not US resident It is a problem....
I cant provide a VISA, because Im not an US resident...
Conclusion, it is a headache...
Any T-mobile customer could help me? Claim an unlock code for my mobile (I have to provide my IMEI)?
I will send you a gift from Spain
or maybe I can pay a fee for inconveniences.
And for sure you will have my friendship
Thanks a lot in advance:

Hello, Good Question.
I'm a former employee of tmobile and here is what i can tell you.
You do normally wait 90 days before you can obtain an unlock code for your phone and getting an account through tmobile is very hard since you don't have a U.S. Social Security number.
MY ADVICE: go to ebay.com and look for seller willing to unlock your phone for you. it will cost you money and be alot less headache for you in the long run.
Also depending on your phone model you might be able to provide the seller your IMEI via Email and get the unlock code in less than an hour. BUT sometimes they will ask you to mail your phone to them so they could unlock or "Flash" your phone. i would not go that route. The Reason: your phone could get lost in the mail or the seller could steal it.
So do your research and call your local cell phone stores to see if they know anyone locally who could do it for you.
GOOD LUCK!!

Send the inquiry to their web correspondence on the home page at the bottom of the page ‘Contact Us’ informed them that you’re not a customer but have purchased the handset and want the unlock code, let them know that you’re aware of the 90 day requirement but that you can provide hard copy proof that you purchased the handset, you can go to a retail T-Mobile store to fax the receipt
The process is usually forty-eight hours
Another option is the website www.cingucell.com that offers the service of unlocking handsets at 4.95 per handset

I've been a t-mobile customer for quite a long time, can someone explain to this newbie why I'd want to unlock my phone?
I thought the whole thing was about being able to use a particular phone with a particular tel-co's OS, is that not the case?

Hello, I am originally from new jersey and I live in germany while i'm working for the army.. I bought a sidekick 2 off of ebay but it is locked.. i am aware of the 90 day service but was never a memver since I purchased off of e-bay.. Is there a special number I can call t-mobile from germany ? And is there any sights that unlock the sharp sidekick 2? Please someone help willing to do anything to get my hip top working at least in someway..We have sidekick here but for e-plus i'm hoping that if I get the unlock code that maybe it will work on the danger here with e-plus--any suggestions anybody..Kevin
