I have really reached my wits end.
I have installed the PC SUITE cd rom included with the purchase of my P900. The phones cable is plugged into the USB port but says its not connected. I have reinstalled once and run a repair on the program once. The cable is in perfect condition as its new but its just not being recognised., I have even tried to locate it in "find new hardware" with no luck. The odd thing is the the icon says connected (but when i try install programs off the content and application CD its says its not connected...WHEN IT IS???
When i click on the P900 icon on my desktop it claims not connected...when it is and the software has been installed.
Please help me i dont know what ELSE to do!
Furthermore, where can i download
for the MORE APPS Aplication. When i run the MORE APPS application from my phone (that strangely enough connects to the net via my laptop ) The prompt is to install APP FORGE BOOSTER INSTALLER VERSION 4. When i go to install after selecting more than enough memory an error comes up saying i need to download APPFORGE BOOSTER 3 BEFORE I can install 4. While i understand this WHERE DO I GET THE VERSION 3 FROM WHEN THE APPFORGE SITE MISDIRECTS ME COMPLETELY!!! I keep going round and round in circles. While im in love with my phone sorting out the sofware has become an absolute nightmare and caused a huge time wasting and unncessary inconvinience.
Thanking ANY HELP in advance

Hi ,
First makesure to keep your mind in balance.! this'll make you the most valuable person in the world.
Your error which you've being experiencing is connected to your Communication Port Settings.
1.Attach the phone to the craddle and the usb cable of the craddle to your Usb port.
2.Once you've installed the P800 Pc Suite you'll find an icon on your taskbar named phone connection link.
3.Then you better double click on it.
4.Now it'll open a dialog box with your Communication ports availble on your PC.
5. Select the exact port which you've connected your phone and makesure that you've not puzzled up any com ports.
6. Tick on the exact one and close the dialog box.
7. Now you'll find your phone connecting to the pc.
8. Open the Pc Suite Application
You are ready to overcome the first Dilemma.
Your second query is on APP Forge Booster
I'm on a web development process which would feature such applications. I'll let you know once i'm done with it.
Bye,

Thanks for the help above, let me tell you what i have managed to do and my current dilema.
I have had a number of software related issues in the two days i have owned my phone and it seems i cannot run away from them. My latest problem is I have uninstalled PC SUITE 3 and downloaded PC SUITE 3.1 from the net. I have then managed to update my phone through the SE site. Everything was running smoothly until i re booted today only to find that none of the Sony Errison files will open. The connection manager icon as well as the phone icon. The icons are there and i opened them yesterday but today nothing. What can i do now? Will i have to keep un insatlling and installing the software all the time?? Another problem is that i have just tried to take a photo and it says i have insufficient memory. Checking with the STORAGE MANAGER I'm told I have 9.7 MB of free space internally which by my mind is plenty of space for one measly photograph and 16.8 MB free on my memory stick
I have been very impressed with the product but the software glitches are driving me nuts and putting an ugly shadow on some awesome technology. I have just bought this phone and there seems to be an endless list of software related problems. Like i say, i have upgraded the PC SUITE and the hardware and still my problems pesist. This cannot be normal. Please someone help me out before I return this phone in a very bad mood.

Hi,
| Quote: | Analysis:-
Your PC suite seems to be working properly at the start, but then once you reboot it seems to be missing. Did you manage todo any System Restore process?
Suggestion:-
Anyhow try installing the PcSuite Software and then reboot it. Once you've rebooted check if the software is on the system. But you mention that the phone icon which is called as "P800/900 icon" and the Connection Monitor as "Phone Connection Link".
(1) Once you've installed the Software and rebooted your Pc, then wait untill everything loads onto your system. ( This may take few seconds based on the system speed and the number of startup applications.)
(2) Then place your Phone on the Craddle. Confirm that you've setup the Cable onto your PCs Usb port.
(3) If you've already attached the cable and the syncstation light is "ON", Now notice the Phone Connection Link icon on your taskbar. It should indicate some movement on the icon. It would appear to be similar to a Audio Analyzer.
(4) Then wait for a few seconds (approx. 30 seconds) and then double click on the P900 icon on the desktop. (If the phone connection link icon doesn't show it's animation such as like connecting then try checking whether you've ticked on the correct port.)
(5) Now your ready to transfer your files from your phone to the PC and the either way. |
Then now i'll consider on the second issue which is based on the Camera.
| Quote: | Analysis:-
(1) You are sure that you have space to snap & save the picture in your phone.
(2) You're correct about the size of the picture, If you would snap a picture with the best settings, then it would range upto 100kb rarely.
Queries Based On Your interpretation:-
(1) Were you certain that you were about to snap a picture or perhaps capture a video.? since it just differce with a narrow soft button on the top.
Suggestions:-
(1) If you've overcome the first dilemma, then backup your phone using the backup and restore manager.
(2) Once you've succesfully backed up your phone and memory card (optional) "Format The Disk".
(3) Now try snapping pictures.
| Quote: | Tip:- To format the internal disk you would need to go to the service menu of the phone, which could be accesible by (>*>>*<*)
The sign ">" is refered to push the jog dial up once
The sign "<" is refered to push the jog dial down once
The sign "*" is the star or rather asterix of your keypad |

Hi All,
I have done all that has been suggested above on my new (freshlyinstalled) Win2K PC. The software used to work before I formatted it.
Now, the phone connects via infrared but cannot connect via USB. The Phone Connection Monitor satys at "Connecting" mode forever.
Any ideas?
TIA
Yiannos
