Anyone know the latest schedule for Verizon to support Treo 650? I've seen other websites say it was supposed to be out in November and now January but nothing official from Verizon. I like Verizon because it is the only service with coverage at my house in Danville CA and I want a Treo. It seems dumb to buy the 600 now when the 650 is already released because I'd already be on old technology. Anybody think I should just get the 600?

For a while I had the ear of a senior engineer at Verizon and they never deliver anything on time, so don't expect it to happen soon. If you want the screen resolution, wait for the 650. Its greatest value seems to be photos, but the camera is so low resolution that it doesn't seem to make much difference to me. Otherwise, if you want the other features now, go for the 600. It is pretty good, although not nearly as good on the Verizon network as it is on Sprint, IMO.

Looking into the 650 and was waiting for Verizon because of what EVERYONE says is better customer service and also supposed faster internet access. But you mention you think the 600/650's are better on Sprint than Verizon. I'd love to have your input!!!
Thanks,
Jeff

My data rep that works in the corporate office told me that we will not be putting the 650 on our network. He said the reason is that the 650 has many problems and sprint is having problems with it and Verizon took a look at it and decided not to introduce it. He said that it is not in testing anymore. The adiovox 6600 is better anyway and samsung is releasing a similar model very soon that will even be better than that.

Very sorry to hear your response . . . I was very much looking forward to the Verizon TREO 650 . . . .
How certain are you about your news? Perhaps it's just postponed?

I've been a Verizon (and it's predecessors) customer for ove 10 years. By far the best wireless carrier...except the glaring lack of a Treo 650 in their Smartphone lineup.
Seems from what I'm reading VZW has no plans to add the device, even to supercede the Treo 600.
Reluctantly, I'm going to look elsewhere. A business colleague has a Sprint Treo 650 and it simply does everything I want and need, and in an open environment versus the Blackberry closed system.
So, if I'm forced to leave VZW, which carrier should I select? Sprint or Cingular? Or is the new VZW Blackberry 7250 the way to go?
Sign me confused and disappointed.

Last week I went into a VZW store (for about the 500th time) to ask if there was any news on when they would be getting the Treo 650. The smiling sales rep said they were just told that it was expected at the end of the quarter (end of March) and he'd be glad to add my name to a call-back list of interested customers as soon as it arrived. I checked another store which said they hadn't heard that news.
I called VZW (for about the 500th time) and after pushing the service rep hard enough (and being on hold for about 15 minutes while he "did some digging") he came back on the line and said that the 650 is currently in testing. He explained that testing can take 3 to 6 months. He was unable to provide me with an answer as to when testing began so there's no way of knowing when the 650 can reasonalby be expected but this does sound like a step in the right direction.

I was told Feb-March in Dec. Now I'm being told June. On HowardForums.com, someone is saying May 24 or something, along with a bunch of new phones.
Whatever. I'm not sure that Verizon realizes that some people want the PDA, and want to choose the OS for the PDA, and may not have as much of a need for the phone. (Sure, some people will need both "halves" of a smartphone, and some will need the phone more than the PDA.)
I feel like I'm either going to switch to a different carrier or get a cheap phone I can sync with iSync on Mac OS X, and get a separate Palm. Ugh, I hated that, but it seems like the best way to deal with the situation.
No matter what, though, I'm pissed at Verizon. That's great, isn't it? Make your customers so frustrated up front because you have to test your phones for a year before releasing them ... so that they go and get completely different products, or switch carriers.
