I just bought a VX7000 and one of the features I wanted most I can't find (voice memo). I have read the manual, called Verizon but no luck. The reviews and manufacture says it exists and that you can record memo's up to 4 minutes but I haven't been able to find it. Can anyone help.

go to "Menu"....then to "Get it now" from the "get tunes and tones"... it is number "2" "record new"...probably not the voice memo you wanted, but thats where its at

I was afraid of that. I did find that I could record messages and that it would save them with a file name as the Month&day&year&time. I was able to do it by pressing the "Voice Dial Key" down for two seconds then the same prompt would come up as what you told me.
Although a little cumbersome at least it works.

On the left side of the phone there are two buttons, one for volume, and the other that until yesterday I thought was just for using voice commands, or turning on the flash. But, if you open the phone, and hold down the small button on the left side (hold it down), tada! There is the voice recorder!

It would be so nice if you could do it when closed. I just pushed the button yesterday (got the phone earlier in the week) and got the message on the exterior screen that Voice Memo not available. Hmmm, wonder if there is a setting for that?

i think that is for voice dialing with the hands free headset when closed

Yep, it only works for voice dialing when closed. Mainly due to the fact that the microphone for recording is the normal mouth piece. With the phone closed, you can't get enough sound to record a decent memo. But the hot button is helpful for anyone that needs a quick memo. Also, don't worry about holding the phone too close when recording. The mic is pretty decent on this one.
