I found that setting the backlight to 20 Sec and turning the screen saver off (if sometimes you leave your phone open) it does help your battery life a great deal.

My wife's ph has the same problem. She tried switching the battery at first which didn't help much. Then she had cing replace the ph, same battery and its even worse. Without using the phone, it dies down to one bar within a day.
Is this a program problem / defect? This is ridiculous.
BT is not on. And brightness was at 3. i dropped it to one.
Anyone have luck finding out any details?
As an aside, I have the treo650 on cingular and it resets and freezes a lot. I found out that sprint has v1.08 of the software but cing is on an older version - who knows when that will come out.

There is custum flexes to fix some of these battery issues with the V551,it seems to work great! Get the flexes and then use PST and MultiFlashFlex to do this(need a data cable).I know this seems complicated, but it's not once u goto the site.Link out

My wife has this phone and likes it alot, but after only 36 hours of standby and 25 minutes of talk time (I kept close tabs on both)... battery is DEAD! I am on my second phone from AT&T/Cingular, and made all the changes I can find to reduce battery consumption. I can't believe the performance is so far off what Motorola advertises.

I'm not sure why many people having problems with the batter life but my v551 will stay on standby for 3 days. 2 days max with calls and playin games on. I would recommend to always discharge your battery and fully charge the phone. This helps these Li-lion batteries last longer.
