okay, i have t610 and recently got psion revo. decided to try out the infrared system, switched it on on my t610 and connected, nothing. over and over again. okay, then tried connecting my t610 by irda with other phones, still nothing, other phones cant find mine. then i checked the housing/case of my phone. i had a chinese casing on, and the irda should be located under the little hole on the top of the phone. on the original case that little hole is blue-transparent - makes sence, irda must see trough. but on the chinese one it is not transparent. well i thought that was it, removed the piece of the case that was on top of the antenna chip. tried again - nothing.
i am very confused, i have started thinking that irda has been cut out from my phone . i would like to know where is the irda chip/bulb located in the phone so maybe i could see if its still there, or something like that.
any help would be good, and sorry about my english, hope u understand what is my point...

Hi,
Did you try it with an infrared device attached to a pc. Then did it work. Since sometime the Infrared devices are not supported by each other. They are different. For example: Some phones have limited the size of file transfer. And some other wouldn't allow you to transfer any other media but contacts.

Well, for me it sounds like a service center job.. Send it in. Btw, my T630(black) has got just a black cover and aint transparent but still works..
So thats why i think u have to send it in for repair.

Yes..! first try these, and then send the phone to the Service Centre.

Hi, Perhaps you better go for a Terminator dongle. That'll let you flash your phone with your selective firmware. Ifn't you could sometimes take use of the Cable you bought, by trying to flash your phone through servers. You'll need to purchase credits to do that. But for more information try visiting http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic18269.html . Best Of Luck..!

lol. i finally bought a torx6 scredriver and decided to change my t610 faceplate back to original. took it open, also observed the irda module a little bit that was absolutley at a different place that i had thought first . so i cleaned it with those ear cleaning sticks (there was really minor dust on that), and installed my original faceplate, just for any case checked if my psion revo would find the t610, and suddenly , there it were - the golden message - found t610 series. wopedoooo! it works now. guess the problem was the minor dust or the suckup chinese faceplate. well, now i have still 2 problems left : 1) the sucky-sucky vodafone customization (i would like to remove it but nothing helps than Firmware replace, or is there any other chance?) and the second one 2) the usb datacable that i bought does not work - windows installes the usb cable and emulates the com port, but when connecting the phone to cable, no software nor windows detects it. as i dont know how complicated it is to check the wire connections , im going to try this out now. or if that dont work- gonna sell my cable and by usb bluetooth dongle (it costs about 19€). well wish me good luck icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: okay i did a really quick check, it seems that 2 pins (that reach the bottom of the phone)inside the phone and 1 kind of really small chip are oxidated (sorry i know only the verb - oxidation) , its like they have given off some kind of white-green liquid or something like that. now i think i must take the phone to service, as i dont see any way how could i fix it myself. damn again money takes hike
