Phone Model: razr v3

Well my cingular contract is over in a few days, and I've purchased the Razr, which I plan to use with my new T-mo service. I tried to get it unlocked by calling the cingular rep. and requesting a unlock code because I will be planning to go on a "business trip" overseas. Not only did I not get the code but the rep. was emphatic in explaining that Cingular will not give unlock codes to anyone, no exceptions.
So now that I am out of luck in getting my V3 unlocked this way, how long would i need to wait for a company to be able to unlock v3's? Has anyone been sucessful with any of the websites out there that supposedly state that they are able to unlock razr's?

Phone Model: Motorola V3 RAZR
Service Provider: ATT / Cingular |

Are you sure your RAZR is unlocked? My friend's Cingular V3 appears to be unlocked while my ATT V3 is locked and is asking for a "subsidy code".
We tried a SIM swap and my ATT sim worked in the Cingular phone while his Cingular sim asked for a "subsidy password". I got the same result when I tried a UK Virgin SIM which works on the T-Mobile network here.
Cheers.

Honestly I'd say the smartest thing to do is be sure that you can get it unlocked before you go and buy it when your on a different service. P.O. but common sense sorta.

There is no "common sense" sort of thing when these people lie to you. I just read the recent article on cell phone carrier's etc. in Consumer Reports (Feb 2005) and Cingular is rated as one of the worst. Gee!...I wonder why!? What these "Bone Heads" don't realize is that they will be regulated by Dear Old Uncle Sam soon. My geuss is sometime in the next 3-5 years. Cingular is just jeolous! Everyone with the money wants the V3 but they don't want to use it with Cingular. Hint! Hint!
Anyway, I finally solved the "unlock" problem with my V3. I wrote one of my brilliant letters to the manager of the store where I bought mine. He called me back and said he would switch it with one of the originals that came "unlocked" it was in perfect condition and appears to be working fine. So you may want to try that.

Yep but i guess it depends...If cingular and moto signed contract agreeing that the phones come locked and the contract for phones to be Purchased through cingular only then i guess really theres nothing that any one can do except purchase and unlock it. But unless we really learn what that contract says I can't say i know cingulars intentions.
