Hi all -- just joined up.
Need some help with the following issue. If anyone can assist it would be a great help.
I have a Bluetake dongle (BT007) installed. Actually a PN21 module installed in a Shuttle XPC.
The software for this was installed successfully using the updated drivers from their site (version 1.3.2.7 - to support Headset for PC audio files). The hardware and the software were working fine.
However, when I installed the software (Mobile Phone Tools version 3.11h) for my mobile phone (Motorola V3) the original software for the Bluetooth will no longer function.
Two error messages are coming up.
1. When the bluetake software starts to load up 'ERROR - Unable to start the Bluetooth Stack Service'
And
2. When I click on the icon for My Bluetooth places 'My Bluetooth Places could not connect to the Bluetooth Stack COM server (Bt Stack Server.exe).
I have tried uninstalling the bluetake software and reinstalling it over the existing Mobile Phone Tools software but I still get the same error messages.
Do I need updated software from Bluetake (1.4.2.10) to work with the Motorola ?
My OS is Windows Home XP SP 2 on PC.
The MobilePhone Tools software actually works fine via the USB cable link it s just that its knocked out my existing Bluetooth software.
Can you please help.
Thanks
Patrick

Check your BT driver under device manager in puter. Chances are, you still have the generic BT driver Win is using because of the SP2. Try to update the driver with the actual BT device install in your puter.

I had already sorted out the amendment to the SP2 drivers by updating the driver (in devices) to 'CRS USB bluetooth device' So the bluetooth software was working perfectly with the devices I already had.
Its just that when I downloaded and set up the MPT for the Motorola it threw everything out. So when I try and access the 'Bluetooth Places' the message about the non access to the bluetooth stack comes up.
I uninstalled the Widcomm software and reinstalled but it is still the same. Looks like there is some kind of conflict with the MPT.
dazed and confused !

MPT is somewhat sensitive when it comes to installation. There are no other bt devices running at th same time? You mentioned you have 3.11H version. If you could, try to install an older version of mpt.

No Bluetooth devices working because the Widcomm/Bluetake software and Bluetooth module will not work to connect with anything now.
Do you know what the Bluetooth stack server is (cos I don't) ?
Could installing the MPT and setting up the Motorola V3 as a modem take over a COM port that was being used by the Bluetooth module.
I am currently waiting for a reply from Motorola to advise which version of the Widcomm drivers works with the V3 and the 3.11 MPT.
I'm a bit of a novice at all this and am trying to learn as I go along

Your guess is good as mine about the BT stack server.

This is what happened with mine : ---
There is a conflict between the MPT version 3.11h and the Widcomm drivers that were being utilised by the bluetooth module. In other words if you install MPT 3.11h over your current bluetooth software the drivers will no longer work and you cannot use your bluetooth devices on the PC.
However, an older version of the MPT should work ok. (cant remember which version I used, but I found a link to download by searching on the web) You can then use the update facility to update the older version past 3.11h up to the current version 3.19e. This newer version will also work ok.
Mine works fine now.

Hi
My Motorola V3 Bluetooth is asking me for a code/pin when I try to connect to another device. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
