First of all I use p2kman and moto phone tools for my mp3 stuff. and i was trying to assign a ringtone to a contact and once u scroll to a certain section the application closes out. it seems to be a glitch in the v551 i was wondering if anyone could show me how 2 update the firmware and maybe that will fix the problem because i have mp3 ringtones just sitting there that i cant assign. if i go to multimedia>sounds i can play em and assign em as the main tone but i just cant get 2 em from the phone book

Try a master reset of phone. If that does work, use p2kman and delete mytone.db & temptone.db file and do a master reset on phone.

a master clear? so i should master reset the phone i wont loose all my stuff will i?

Deleting the two files and master reset did not work??
Did you backup the files that you have deleted? FOr example, alert~file. You may need to u/load them back to phone and follow these steps again.
