I had two errors and verify would report errors but after using the Customer T X450 setting in optiflash with Differences Only checked I was able to get no errors after a second attempt.
Now if only I could fix my IMEI! Cerberos doesn't do a thing for me.

Have you tried removing the battery and putting it back in?
If it still doesn't work try flashing it again - remove battery first, put back in and not attempting to power it on until prompted by OptiFlash.
I'm not sure how much of the flash has to be good (if any) in order for OptiFlash to work, I think it prevents the phone from loading the flash when you turn the phone on as prompted which would explain why the phone appears to not power on at that time.
115200 worked fine for me.

Phones: x427 and x427m from Cingular
Software: Optiflash 4.14T and Celebros 1.5
Downloaded from: http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/s/j/sjs342/
Flash file: x427m ver. 1.2 (downloaded from same site)
So I've tried all versions published of Optiflash and found ver 4.14T is the only one that flashes both of my phones with no operational problems (ie. phone restarts when recv voicemail).
Optiflash settings:
Platform: Customer T: X40x
Com 1 / Bit rate 115200
File: X427M Rev 1.2.sre
* When flashing, at 99% done, I get an Error. BUT, disconnect cable and phone works perfect after reinstalling sim card.
IMEI was changed to all zeros. so I used Celebros to change back.
Phone on. Plug in cable (switch to d/l if you have one).
Model: Q-100
fill in IMEI
Click write IMEI
Unplug cable. Remove battery for a couple secs, then reinstall.
Turn phone on. Press *#06# and verify IMEI has been changed.
P.S. I am new to this flashing stuff and this just happens to be what has worked for me. I didn't mind experimenting on my phones.

Ok.. i flashed it with the older optiflash 1.6 and it worked. and i sent a text message , no problem. Where was the error supposed to be with text messaging? and on the x427M, how do you go to lowercase mode in text w/o T9

Another question is it supposed to be set to Data at anytime during this process? Im going to try buggin's steps, and see if i can get it to work, cause i had that error at 99%, and my phone wouldnt turn on but i got x426 .. so we'll see , shouldnt be too big of a difference.

For me i never used data.. Just the D/L toggle. , i have the serial one. and what buggin said worked for me with the OptiFlash 4 T from his post. the x427M is great, except for all the cingular crap which most of it you can turn off or hack out with Januka (which im still trying to figure out, i had to use some chinese program to convert my image to a bin, but the images are a mesh and you gotta do the width and height right, in a weird way or something) .. anyways . everything works fine now, and for some odd reason, i get more games, more backgrounds, more ringtones by default and still get more ringtones on when i put my own on, they must of really optimized it cause it looks better, has way more and it can somehow old more. Im still kinda bugged about the volume, i mean its not quiet, but I think it's softer than before, or maybe im just imagining it, who knows, im just glad that im able to put soooo many more ringtones ,and still have more games and more of everything. But if anyone has any suggestions about increasing the volume (maybe a hex thing in the image file), cause i would like to fix this. (An example , tho the devices are different , ... Like how you can increase the dB level on the iPod through euPod, which just changes the max dB level in the iPod's database, allowing for overall , louder music.) come h4x0rz

Good guide. Thanks for getting that up. I have been a little lazy on getting actual details out. I am glad to see someone else has had success.
As for the text error, that was resolved when Optiflash 4.14 came out. It was the same problem encountered with the x426 and the sunset background (same memory location as text receive of X427M). So there is no longer an issue with that.

You should also try charging your phone first. It may not have had a full charge and this can lead to a fault in the flashing that will not get the full firmware onto your phone. If part of the phone is x426 and part is x427M, the different memory locations will cause the phone to not turn on.
The volume has been louder for me at first, and then softer after a while. I have noticed occasionally it will be softer than it was when I have the x426 firmware on, but if I turn off the phone and turn it back on, it goes back to being louder than it was. It usually stays loud, except when I have it on standby for a long time.
