hello, i have a samsung e317 camera phone. i was wondering if it is possible to d/l actual song clips from a wap site to my phone that i made. I downloaded a song. cut it to about 20 secs, converted it to wav with sound forge 7.0 and then used the yamaha wav to smaf converter to convert it to mmf. I then used a site which allows you to upload files and access them through your phone. I went to the site on my phone, looked up my file and when i tried to d/l it, it said not acceptable. what am i doing wrong here?

hmm, but my real question is, can i in fact take an actual song, for example, no problems by lil scrappy, convert it to wav, and then convert it to mmf, and then be able to play it on my phone just like the other ones i have paid for by cingular. or do i have to convert the (real) songs to some crappy polyphonic sound?

Hi
I think there is the old limitation for the file size of the song the phone can handle. It was 30 (not 32) KBytes in S500 and X450 I owned. If it is still true for new phones (and I think it probably is) you can only make bellow 8 seconds long piece of music (16 sec in 4KHz mode). And I also reccomend you to use the LATEST Yamaha converter since the older many times don't work. Don't use authoring tools - the simple converter may be the only one who's files would be accepted.
i suppose you try that with much smaller file first.
Those are my experiences gained with playing with Samsung toys.
(I have succeeded in replacing the oppening and closing sound of the phone (X450) in firmware and it worked only with latest program's .MMFs - spent days on this problem...)
Good luck to you (you'll need it)
