I recently found out that we are switching to Cingular to AT&T. I am getting the v551 and i have had the v600. I earned that if i unlock the phone I will be able to use the cingular sim card in my v600. The problem is I got my v600 from a friend with AT&T insurance whowas very annoyed by all the dings and dents, so he said that he lost it and had it replaced. Then gave me his old phone. I think i have to get the phone unlocked throught AT&T and i was wondering if there is anyway i could get in trouble because of the phone being claimed lost? Are there any other ways to get a phone unlocked also? Please help me out, thanks.

Actually, my suggestion to you is to buy a new motorola v551 for a minimum price they have (like $60), then you might want to unlock your old motorola v600... my point is - u get 2 phones for the minimum price... and i can assure u that motorola v551 is much better and is able to get more reception bars on it (it's got "special" software in it already)...so if u want to use the most of Cingular's network buy the new one from them, and u'll get top of the line phone....

ya that was my main plan to begin with but i wasnt sure if i would get screwed over by AT&T or Cingular if im trying to get a subsidy password for a "lost phone." I was also thinking about flashing and flexing it but will i still need the password after?

at&t will never know you have that phone until you give them the IMEI #, so dont ever do that.

ya alright. so is there any ways i can get this phone unlocked without having to contact ATT? For example flash and flex or having someone who owns a smart clip try it. would either of these work?
