Hello all, I have an unlocked V600 with T-Mobile and I noticed that there was an IM option on the phone. I was wondering if AIM could be configured onto my phone and if so what would be the proper settings ? It gives you ISP option's to fill-in which lead me to think that AIM could be manually installed on the phone like T-Zones could. Thanks in advance.

well when i contacted cingular they told me to contact AOL but i won't even go there. i figured they had to have the settings somewhere on the AIM mobile website but haven't been able to locate anything so far. .. . . so i tried to go download AIM from my phone via internet... but it said "Authentication error" and terminated the download. so hmm.

I don't use aim myself but I have it in the phone. I am trying to connect it only because of this thread.
So far I created an aim account. I tried to sign on with it but I get an error of "system is not responding".

so you have a v600 that doesn't have aim on the menu? you have to do a seem edit to get it to show up cause it's on the phone. i flashed my T-Mobile v600 to a v620 and lost aim and it became unbranded. The good news is a great guy from howard forums did all the searchin for us and put together instructions and a great site showing the seems and how to turn all the extra stuff on. here's his page http://xlr8.us/hofo/
and here is the seem map to tell you what all the seem edits are http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt just be careful cause it's kinda tricky if you've never done this before. need any help just let me know

i have just got this information for you from HERE hope it helps you a little
Now you can send and receive Instant Messages on your mobile phone with AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) on O2. It's a great way to stay in touch with your Buddies online or via mobile!
What You Need
You need to be a registered AOL or AIM user, have an O2 connection and one of the following phones: Siemens S55, SL55, M55, C55, Nokia 7650, 3650 or 6600. To get the software onto your Siemens you'll need to be able to access the mobile internet. With the Nokia you'll need to be able to connect your PC to your mobile phone via InfraRed, Bluetooth or a data cable (please consult your user manuals). Some newer 6600 models come with AIM preinstalled.
If you have a Nokia: click on the button below to download AIM to your PC (some newer 6600 models come with AIM preinstalled). You will then need to install (synchronise) AIM onto your mobile phone via a Bluetooth, InfraRed or a data cable connection. Once this is done you are ready to connect.
Stay Safe Online
You must be aged 18+ to use this product
still doesn't explain why it's installed on these phones.

I have the AIM on the menu for my v400 that was upgraded to v600. I need to find the settings to be able to connect to AIM. I checked my roomie's v400 and i couldn't get into the settings. she downloaded AIM and it's a java app. I tried downloading it from my phone browser but it wouldn't allow me to. Maybe I can download the java app and upload it to my phone. meh.

Well... Im guessing I no longer have my mobile phone tools software.. I left it in my car including my bluetooth headset, regular headset and manual still wrapped since the day I brought my phone and my car was stolen yesterday morning....
I guess there's no other way of downloading applications to the phone without that program ??
