Yes...I am an idiot and am new to all of this fun ringtone thing...so I am confused.
I would like to make my own ringtones. I have read where folks download MP3's to their 551, but the spec sheet says it is not a MP3 capable phone. So I am questioning if that can actually happen.
If it is, then cool. SOmeone please let me know.
IF the phone will not reconize MP3's, then what type of music file will need to be uploaded to the phone upon conversion. And is it possible to take a part of a MP3 and convert it to a music file that the 551 will reconize and accept.
I am computer literate, just phone dumb and wanting to learn.
Thanks for your time in reply in advance, and above all...
peace,
jay

the how to part I have down. The mp3 i uploaded caused an "unknown file format/delete?" type command on the phone...
So before I went any further, i just wanted to make sure that the phone actually would reconize an MP3?
SOrry if I was unclear.

Yes, the phone is mp3 enabled.
What are you using to edit your mp3? What software are you using to upload them to phone? Have you tried uploading more than one mp3 to phone?

I used Coding Workshop Ringtone convertor to convert and once I saved I used PhoneTools v2.something to upload the converted file.
I did not try any other mp3 once that failed.

Old Fool...I tried that, but the resulting file size after the cut and dice was TOO big. That is why I used CWRConv.
CWRConv reduced the file to 1/6 of what I was left with after MPT took the part of the MP3 that I wanted as a ringtone.
