i have recently purchased a data cable Brand DR. Cable lg 5450
it is suposed to be compatible with my LG vx6000 phone but when i install the drivers on the disk it came with i get a error
The installation failed becuase a function driver was not specified for this device instance
so the drivers wont install
there is also a serial bridge driver that i tried but its has a yellow ! next to it and it wont run the software that came with it is bitpim
i am running winxp pro sp2 and i have looked all over the net for dr cable and nothing comes up for support it wants to use a prolific chipset i tried future data and it is not compatible wont even let me install drivers if anybody has any info about this product please let me know i got the product from vavolo.com no help there

Hate to tell you this, but I got the same cable & software yesterday and I am sending it back! It doesn't appear to be a USB to Serial cable at all. I have a different cable that has the charge/data 'box' on and this one from Dr. Cable just has a box, but no switches....but, I don't know if that means it is or is not USB to Serial?! My PC won't even recognize it when I plug it in! I got it for my LG C1300, but I know different cables are conpatible with different phones. I am sending that one back and getting DataPilot. Best of luck to all of you.

You don't have defective cables, you have a different type of cable. The 4400 series seems to be the only phone that uses a completely different interface. As far as the claim of 'USB to Serial' it's the meaning of a serial port on the phone to the USB connection on the computer. As for the drivers you can get them just about anywhere...
I have had great luck with this particular set...

The prolific drivers are designed to work with Future Dial software, but it seems to work with most cables and software.
If you can't get the download, let me know and I can email them to you.

Yep, I have heard the C1300's are a pain as far as drivers and compatiblity, but the some of the people above had 6000 series phones. The prolific USB driver should solve the problems.
As far as the 4020 goes, I can only recommend that they try this driver as well and see if it works for them.

Yeah, but it seems when I plug my cable in-my PC doesn't even recognize it!!! I have 2 cables...it recognizes one, but not the other?! So, I don't even know what to do at this point! Wish someone was here to help me and mess with it, for my patience are shot!

I too purchased this cable and the driver doesn't install. Also when I try to install the software that is on the disk after I agree to the license I get an error message that tells me to make sure the disk is inserted or contact the software manufacture. I believe these people a bundling pirate software and that is why the install will not work. I've tried to contact the manufacture but have recieved no reply. Anyone who can help me make this work?
