Hi there. I guess we're on the same boat...i'm a gaijin too and has same unit as you are via vodafone. Some forums like the link below offer free 'unlocking' of fones. I have tried mine but unfortunately the free codes I got didn't work. Perhaps you can try yours so we can share notes in the future. I was the first that failed according to the techguy. I want you to try yours so we can isolate whether it is bcuz the problem is 'vodafone japan' specific. here's the link:

hi there, i have found a site which can actually unlock 6630`s and 6680`s remotelry for £10 sterling.
not had it done there myself, but they have good comments from ppl who have those sorts of phones.

So in short it is no use buying a vodafone-locked 6630 for now since I can not unlock it? It's a shame...I was trying to buy one at a very cheap price!

We tested it (it can flash but "cant unlock")on Earlier posted and i am sorry for giving hope to people who buy N6630 to BE USED AND UNLOCK its only "CHISMISS" as many shops CRAVING for that solution until they offer change(mainboard) they telling that they unlock it. the truth is from what they say unlock you left the phone to their shop and wait... (dont do that) they change the mainboard only of a local N6630.. J.A.F box is a nokia tool witch can flash/re-programmed a BB5(baseband 5) phone at the moment they are not developing it yet "BECAUSE" number one (it possible but..) the protection for software is very hard may can decript or copy it and sell as like the original software and make it work so nobody coder do it at this moment somebody will steal and earn on it... the thing you can do is to sell your vodafone n6630 because its getting old now.. you just put the money and buy new one

again i am appoligize for the wrong assesment that the solutions for your N6630 will be coming for those who love it you keep it and wait until the solution finally announce at the moment NO ONE AND NOBODY have the full and working solution to unlock NOKIA6630 and all BB5 phone's in the market... here in PH.

original vodafone firmware does not allow themes and wav, mp3's due to security reasons.. it can work as local 6630 or TIM realeased phones wich can apply applications and games..

here in the Philippines we are still trying to break that code of that F@#c#*g VODAFONE 6630 and 6680. for almost a month i still cant find any way of breaking it...We can flash it but it doesnt unlocked the unit in the first place all we can do for now is to change its board and change it with a new one that works in our country...its really sucks but thats the only way for us to use the unit here or we can just wait until vodafone or nokia give it up....

Since the only for us to use this BB5 phones here in the philippines is for us to change its new hardware anyone knows where???

In greenhills they charged for 9000 pesos or more, in quiapo some say they charged only 7000 pesos and in farmers in cubao they charged 5000 pesos only, these information are from other forums....Well anyone knows where we can find someone who can do this service for a cheaper price?????

All newer Smartphones by Nokia (6630, 6680, the complete N and E series) are unlockable so far.

Only Nokia Care Center are able to do it.

According to some rumors a guy in Serbia called "dejan" is able to do it, but wants 80 Euro for it and you've to send your phone to him.
The guy was the first one who could unlock DCT-3 and DCT-4 phones.

Keep on asking... it is useless.
