i just wanna ask if there's somebody who knows how to unlock my ericsson p900 so i could use it here in jpan.. is there any possible way that i can use it here? one time im tryin 2 search for a network and then i saw that there's a globe & smart network available but when i tried 2 put the smart & globe sim it has no signal even if both sims were in their roaming. i assumed that my p900 is locked because i cant use it here. any advice? |
One time I ask Smart Center about using my GSM fone in Japan,
I was told that, roaming in Japan is only available for corporate lines.
That's what they say.

5K, seems too expensive to me
Even if that price includes a firmware reflash, it still seems
too expensive.
Maybe we can all just wait for an accurate code
calculator for Nokia 6630, which I think Greenhills
guys are also doing at the moment( if they say
wait for a month or two), coz someone is aready
figuring out how to generate an unlock code for Nokia
6630 if it is really a DCT5 fone(no one is sure)
coz DCT4 code doesn't work on the phone, I already
tried it once.
Available code calculator softwares can generate a
code for our Nokia 6630's IMEI, but it's not the correct one,
since they don't have the same algorithm. The good idea is
to wait for an accurate code generator, a month or two,
at least we can save 5K if that is the price
they are asking just to unlock our Nokia 6630.
Any news about the latest firmware available for
download for our Nokia 6630. Because Vodafone
got too many junkies installed on the phone's rom and
too many limitations. A firmware reflash might make
our Nokia 6630 a generic Nokia 6630 without all those
Vodafone junks. Unfortunately, a firmware reflash cannot
unlock the phone.

anyway i wanna try the other option i got in mind (but not sure of this thing yet cos i just heard it from my friend) that theres a cellphone store in megamall (like semicon - something like that) who has the "cd - software" already to unlock 6630 from japan. they said its new and the price was 3000 pesos (correct me if im wrong). i cant wait to go home to find it and see it myself if its true.if there's anybody who wants to check it out pls try to leave a msg for me and update me if really there is any cellphone store who do the job.
as of now im trying to enjoy my 6630 eventhough sometimes im having a hard time txting bcos the keypads are so small.. and that i cant even download mp3 songs from my computer to use it as my ringtone & etc. |
Were all in the same boat. I have 6630 from Japan and locked to Vodafone. I called semicon and other cell shop in Megamall as well as Festival Mall in Alabang and Southmall, but they all pointed me to Nokia Office so i called the main office of Nokia in Makati and they said no one can unlock it here in the Philippines yet as of now and they don't know for how long. They said the easiest way of unlocking it is to send the phone to the network it is locked to.
About MP3 as ringtone, i heard that 6630 from Vodafone doesn't have that function (please correct me if i'm wrong). You should buy a third party software to be able to do that. |
Archer,
May I know what firmware version you got on your vodafone nk702
(aka Nokia 6630)? Is it already 3.45.xx or still 2.39.xx?
I think with the newer version there is an option to manually select
between 3G and GSM. The older version lacks this feature.

Hi, here's the reply I got from NOKIA -
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
In response to your enquiry, please be advised that SIM locked phones
can only be unlocked by the network provider that the phone is locked
to. We regret to inform you that Nokia is unable to unlock these phones
for usage with a different network. We recommend contacting the network
operator to obtain the relevant codes in order to remove the SIM lock
on the Nokia 6630.
Guess I'll just have to wait...
