This all the questions rolled into one, so I'd better say what I'd like, and see if the obvious questions are there:
I'd like to get the Treo 650, and have the ability to get email while traveling in Europe.
This has a number of variables:
The Treo 650 seems to only be offered by Sprint. Does there PCS system work overseas?
Does it need to? Perhaps there's something different with data?
Could I wait until ATT/Cingular gets the treo650? do they offer tri or quad band services?
or is the device the device, and it'll be the same for any provider?
and, of course, no question would be complete without the debate about Sprint's data plan vs Cingular's data plans. What's with the apples and oranges of the prices? (one has unlimited included, one has high priced unlimited)

When you go to Europe, you'll need a GSM version of the phone, no CDMA here.

Cingular offers the Treo 650 as GSM version, which will work all over the world (except Japan, but this is another story)

Thanks for the replies... I got impatient, and did the big switch-over to Sprint (having been an ATT customer for for 6 years or so) so I guess I'm sort of out of luck with the GSM from Cingular now. hrumph.
However, I would like to point out to folks in my position, I'm very happy with Sprint so far. Better coverage in my metro area (I've tested some of the bad spots ATT had) and better customer service, AND a better pricing deal.
After combining my wife's phone plan (formerly) and mine, adding unlimited data for $15 a month, I'm still saving $35 a month from my old ATT plan. That's good stuff.
Cheers,
Tys

I believe that sprint and verizon offer only cdma services and what you would need for Europe would be GSM being att cingular. If you would be using say t-mobile or cingular over there I believe data services would work but very expensive as they already are. CDMA is cheaper for data services in the states, but may not work overseas. But if you plan to buy a local sim card over in Europe that would set you up on a local provider taking away international roaming but only if you have an unlocked treo. Then you would have to check to get that the gprs services working with that provider..
