I was trying to solve a faulty help display on the x427M when i happened across something interesting. If you convert your .sre backup to a .bin using mot2bin or DIY, you can view it in a hex editor. Do a text search for any known simple code (ex. 9999), it should take you to a section of the hex where you will find not only this code, but many other *# numbers. This may lead to a great way to find codes on phones, just make sure you have a good back-up before you go testing as this doesn't promise they are safe!

Interesting. Very interesting. I wonder if this will work to discover locations of memory storage amounts for tones, images etc....

You can discover the storage amounts by using Januka.

I mean so that one can alter them, as in the E800 4-in-1 patch to increase mmf size to up to 296k

that is completely different. that is done in DIY using offsets and blank memory found in the hex. that is covered in a tutorial somewhere... this is about finding stuff without having to just sit and type in numbers for hours.

I found these codes this way a year ago (posted on GSM forum). I tested them all (S500) but haven't found anything important they can do. Much of them hasn't even worked on the (Error in level of acces). It's waste of time

Thanks man. You have a real enthusiasm. Sadly, you never get anywhere by shooting down new ideas, so I plan to keep looking.
