I bought a data cable as soon as I got my t310! Successfully used it to transfer pics, themes and midis via MyPictures. However I've a got a handful of woes.

a). MyPictures can transfer files (from .jpg to .mid to .hm) but not .mtn, the file extension of t310 games.

b). The file transfer usually is fast, less than ten secs. With a bigger file, there is usually file transfer failure.

c). Sometimes the pc recognizes my phone, sometimes it doesn't.

d). The quality of the pics uploaded to the t310 through Sony Pic Edit program is better than MyPictures. Sony Pic Edit automatically converts the pic to gif. Converting jpg to gif through photoshop has bad results!
A bit distorted

e). yeah, I cannot transfer pics from my phone to my pc. So if you're planning to get a cam, get an infrared adapter too. From where I am,
the cable costs US$29! and the infrared costs US$33! The Infrared is not really exclusive to t310 unlike the cable, you can use it to connect other devices to your pc like mp3 players, palm....

f). The quality of pics taken by the cam (MC25) is bad (dark, shadowy) when viewed on the phone. But when transferred, it looked okay!

The transfering of files (all kinds) has never been a problem for me due to one thing:

Maybe everyone that has an iPAQ and a T300, T310 or T610 would come to think about it BUT, maybe there is someone out there that has not.

irda transmission is fully compatible between these devices without having to install any aditionan software. So what I do is transfer the files (Midi, pics, themes, games or whatever works with my T310) to the iPAQ, and then I beam them from there to the phone. The other way around works just as well.

I think/hope that this compability is due to Pocket PC, and not Compaq, and if so; any Pocket PC device would work. I assumed it works with T300 and T610 since it works with T310, and hopefully with T68/T68i.

A bit Geeky but; if you want to bring a lot of stuff for the phone with you, perhaps on vacation on something, then just fill you PPC with 32MB-1GB (depending on PDA memory) with Mophun games, Midi files, pictures of averyone you know, all thinkable themes aso. And then bring both devices with you. Still if so, im sure you would rather play on your PDA then in your phone. icon_smile.gif

@ Brunte

It mustt work with T300 since T310 is almost exactually the same phone.
Its the "upgrade" of t68 and the t310 is a small update from the t300

Hi! I'm back at last from the 2 week silence and am replying to this post:

a) no offense, but the mophun format is .mpn, not .mtn otherwise that's a quite cool proggie and all, but I don't seem to understand how it gets related to this subject.

b) that's rather unlucky, dunno why it fails on bigger filez, anyway yo thinked of around 100 kb as a big file???

c) well, that's quite xyz to me too, coz I use an IR with XP, which needz nothing, and recognizes (except the IR adapter driver installed) my T310 as a T300 (coz the 2 phonez are identical in software)

d) Yeah, that's what I use too. The Sony Ericsson Picture Editor. Quite cute. But since I don have a sync with my phone (you can't with the T310 (at all)), so I can't upload pics directly via SEPE.

e) This is what the whole post's about... To warn people before buying a data cable. Anyway, did you get yor IR meanwhile???

f) The MCA-25 is best outdoors since it doesn't have flash. That means that it needs lotsa light. With that given, the pictures are very good quality. And of corz it loox better on PC, coz PC has more colors (32-bit (4294967296 colorz)) and resolution...

Folx, another thing you must know of data cables if you have a T300/T310: these phones can be used as a modem via IrDA port. BUT it's possible that newer firmwares enable you to do this with a data cable. BUT it's also possible that Bush is an alien icon_devil.gif ...

I was |<->| close to buying a data cable, i was shopping around all of sydney (Australia) and was gonna order one since they needed order.

but i read this topic & thought twice, because they said you CANT TRANSFER PICTURES FROM YOUR MOBILE TO PC
and i thought these guys are right, im not sure why but i trusted them.

the next few days i shopped around for Irda & Bluetooth adapters,
i found the bluetooth USB adapter is only $20 more expensive and is lighter, and less hassle with no cables.

I bought that & now ive transferring files both ways TO and FROM the PC. go for Bluetooth, thats one of the T610's highlights which not all phones have. dont get Infra Red shit that 8850s in 1999 had & you have to align the adapter & phone, blah blah blah.

Yep, yor one of the lucky ones, so you have a Bluetooth phone. But never forget that even though we're living in today's capitalist individualist world (I mean, hassle around copyrights and prosecuting CD copiers, which I think, literally squishes our rights icon_mad.gif ), someone still needz to think of everyone. And to be honest, 3 % of today's buyable phones (TOTALLY, that means that I'm even talking of the Mitsubishi ones (my dad's first one was that. DUDE was that OLD)) are Bluetooth only. And 10 % of the MMS phonezz. Now, this topic is exlusively for MMS fellaz, coz I've explained that these new needz against this old technology can't be accomplished by using a conventional data cable. So whoever is lucky enough to win, or was stuffed with enough money to buy a Bluetooth phone, then I really recommend Bluetooth for them. BUT we're still here. YES, we didn't have money to buy a Bluetooth phone, and not even all of them have IR either. But a normal MMS phone has an IR nowadays... So IR is a quite good solution, and is a much more wide-spread tech than Bluetooth, and you won't have to only use it for a mobile phone, but also a megapixel camera (higher-end) or video camera. Well, a bluetooth digital camera is more than EXPENSIVE. So IR doesn't suck at all, but I probably understand why you'vecommented that in your excessive (positive) emotions, coz I was just as damn happy as you when I saw my camera pics on me PC monitor after a 1 month torture (coz in my case, the SE fellas were SLOW, and had no IR in stock, until the fella gave me the shop's IR which is kept there for demonstration (that really was nice of him, otherwise I could still cry here with my nice lil data cable).
