First of all, I don't have a T616 quite yet...it's just want I want to get. But what exactly is a data cable?! is it a usb??!! I read through the entire thing in the hopes that something in here would clarify that but...nothing really did (for me anyway).
and from the sound of things, the bt is also USB is that right??
and in another part of the forum, someone mentioned that u could use usb to transfer stuff from pc --> phone. is that the normal usb or more of SE accessories USB?
sorry for sounding like a dumb@ss but it'd be a great help if anyone could respond..

Currently there are 3 means of data transfer between your mobile device and your Personal Computer:
-Data cable
-Bluetooth
-Infrared
Now each device type has 2 ways to connect to your PC:
-Serial Port
-Universal Serial BUS
Serial is absolutely outdated, so USB is ten times better. Data cable is mostly (at least advisable to buy in that way) sold for phones by the phone manufacturer itself. The problem with this method is that you can only establish a data connection with a specified software + its only 1 way if you consider sending multimedia to your phone (but not onto the computer without float's Mobile Agent). The rest 2 are wireless. IR needz your phone's IR port to be faced with the adapter in 1m range in a 30 degree radius circle. Bluetooth can connect to the phone anywhere, in any position within 10 metres, even thru walls (in right conditions). Newer versions of BT also use 100m (Sony Ericsson Z1010 has 100m BT for example), but in order for the connection to work in that distance, both devices need to have long range BT. For instance, if you have a 10m range T610/6 with a 100m USB BT adapter, the connection still has a 10m range only.

HEH????? Are those ppl sure about this? That is physically impossible. Or maybe they were talking of BT phones, that may also have an IrDa port too, and thus they can communicate in both ways, and maybe you misunderstood or somthing. I dunno. But what I'm sure of is that IR and BT aren't compatible with each other.

Yo Ganxta
I just read your original post on this sticky. I never heard a bigger pile of %$£%%..... You simply need the right SOFTWARE to send pics to and from the fone. I do it every day with a $10 serial cable.
Over and out!
Haydo....

HAha! Seems like you've read EVERY single letter in this topic. Please go to this part of my topic, and try not to post replies that say NOTHING NEW and have already been stated in the same topic once. I know that this has grown to a quite long topic, but try to read thru all the pages next time. And earlier, I have been convinced by fMA's functionality, mainly because it's freeware, and those type of developers usually put in some tricks, coz I've never stated that DC has no possibility to send things to PC (coz it does, only with contacts and SMSes, if you dun have fMA, but something else working instead), and with a lil trick, you can send multimedia 2-way too. Seeing that fMA is still beta version, I might suppose that it didn't even exist when I started this topic. Please excuse me, but let me remind you of this trivial fact: time doesn't stop. If you start to read a more than 4 month old topic, don't just read the first post, and then reply something... Hope you know what I mean. Hmm, maybe this was the 4th topic of this type reminding people of reading thu all the posts if they want to reply something more reasonable...

You're right GanxtaB, this thread is several months old, perhaps it needs updating or removal??
The softwart is FloATs Mobile Agent running on Win 2000 and the cable is any old serial cable for T610.
Cheers old boy!

Perhaps it doesn't need removal coz collective consciounce is not yet achieved, and the topic is for newbies, not not only for you personally Mr. Haydo "old boy" . Maybe you'll have a better time leaving the removing or updating task to the moderators (I'm definately not a Tech Expert, as you stated in another of your really polite posts). BTW, this topic is constantly being updated, but now that you've mentioned, I'll put shortcuts everywhere to everything, so even Ibn al Fahrad can read it, who doesn't know a word in english... ...
