I'm trying to view a traffic map on my V3 Razr by directly entering the following URL on my browser.
http://www.tripcheck.com/images/SpeedMap.gif
The image size is 410x418 pixles and since this phone does 640x480. Is it as simple as since the phone resolution is 176x220 it will not display? I figured it would re-size to fit.
Thanks in advance.

Normally when you try to set an image that is too large for your screen as your wallpaper etc. it will give you the option to resize it. I don't see why your phone isn't automatically resizing it.
Have you tried to click on menu - store - image when you are viewing the web page? The image will then get stored on your phone and should be visible.

Tried that -- still getting "too large to open" and it displays a little red circle with a line through it.
This worked before with my SE T616. Does the fact that this is a GIF have anything to do with the problem?

I don't think so, because my V500 supports GIF. How many Kb/MB in size is the image?

30745 bytes (30Kb) -- not too large right?

Not near too large. I have no clue. I am absolutely dumbfounded. Have you tried to store the image, then send it to another phone via Bluetooth/MMS etc. and then send it back to your phone? Maybe it will work for some reason.

I'm just looking for the simple solution to view a map of local traffic conditions on the go. Could come in handy during rush hour. Plus it liks to a government site so there is no monthly fee.
Hopefully someone else can chime in to add some insight.

I looked at the url you posted for the map. It is bitmap file. Did you save it as .gif or .jpg file?

Well, he never really said that he saved it as .gif. I guess you better than me reading minds.
